This definitely hit me on a visceral level. I have a genetic disorder effects your outward appearance as one of its myriad of symptoms and I've been called a freak more than once. So Quasi has been a character I bonded to at a young age. People can be vehemently cruel. But like Esmeralda here, there ARE good people there who will stand up for people and not just sit there watching cruelty. So I loved this strip and really want to give poor Quasi a hug. And I'm sure Esmeralda standing up for him will stick with him for the rest of his life because I sure as hell remember random acts of kindness from others from highschool when someone would be cruel to me

Good job bringing Quasi's situation into the modern age. Rather than pelt tomatoes at him the audience full of adults are "so sorry for the poor cripple and his family" and "can't imagine how terrible their lives are" Very relatably gross.
