Shouldn't it be the Pavel Chekov, not just Chekov? Otherwise it looks like it could be named for the writer, Anton.

That IS a nice sentiment, but te ship was named after the character not the actor, and the character was first played by Walter Koenig not Anton Yelchin.
But seeing a starship named the Yelchin *would* be a touching and fitting tribute to a talented actor who indeed left us *much* too soon.
