Been thinking for a little while that I've watched some Godzilla content, 2014, shingodzilla, the new anime and just thought... I liked none of them and actually quit shin half way through. Toho's Godzilla just rather bores me. so what godzilla media did I like... surprisingly..Β the 98 version. where we saw a ton of godzilla wrecking things apart and it looked more like something that could exist rather than a man in a suit. but more specifically the godzilla the animated series where I got to watch godzilla fight against mutante animals. This was the godzilla I most enjoyed and had fun with, so here's a homage to my favorite Godzilla.
and gotta' tell ya, this sucker is rather difficult to draw. He's surprisingly detailed, but I think our reptilian kaiju came out well and the styling for the cartoon fits how I feel comfortable coloring currently. So do enjoy some Godzilla here. I may do some other kaiju later on.

Nice ^^ I'm kind of the same. I have nothing against other incarnations of Godzilla (I actually fairly recently saw the 2014 American film and really liked that). But, I have some sentimental attachments to "Zilla" and the '98 film. Plus I like how it KIND OF feels like a feasible enough idea (an actual lizard gets mutated by nuclear weaponry; but then still behaves like an animal, just that his massive size andΒ (natural) behaviorΒ also results in destruction and danger to humankind).

yeah, much the same reasons myself. i like him being more natural and more vulnerable, and not being just unstoppable, but almost "seeming" as if he is, until you realize it's just an animal that is really oversized. something more plausible for a large reptile to come out like

particularly nick catapolus, who seemed to me kind of like a peter parker in the cartoon vs how woosy he was in the movie. though as the movies go, the 98' movie is my favorite as it is one i rewatch and just enjoy as a popcorn flick as it keeps the action fairly high. the other 'toho' godzillas honestly leave me bored and i just can't get invested in them (probably cuz zilla' just doesn't move at all so he's rather boring)

Not really. they're quite a different scale and characters. so i can't say they are. it also depends what godzilla you mean as within the godzilla realm itself the characters are different.
