Description A goblin warband about half way through a meal.
I based this picture on a very famous painting that also has the word ‘Supper’ in it’s title. The proportions of a goblin’s body is quite different to that of the figures in the original piece, so the exact positions are not quite the same, but I kept the basic layout and composition the same. The picture was drawn in one of my A4 pads and I was surprised that I managed to fit all 13 goblins round the table! I tried to keep the background as simple as possible so it doesn’t take attention away from the goblins. I added the sepia effect after scanning and did some minor touch-ups to the background

Wow! Great idea, and very nicely done The leader/middle goblin looks like he's going to have fend off an attack from each side if they get much drunker - there are some very shift sly looks from some of tis tablemates

This is a nice reworking of the classic. I like your level of detail in the figurework, and that being said, how you kept the background simplified!

Their expressions are wonderful, and the rat on the table a good touch!

Is this their "last supper" before a battle, perhaps?

Actually I have been asked a few times if there is any kind of meaning behind this picture

What follows is one of my favourite interpretations:

The original painting is supposed to depict the moment when Jesus supposedly said “one of you will betray you”.

In this picture the goblin leader has just said something similar, a few of them are ignoring him, some have daggers and others are passed out drunk, but lets face it they’re Goblins …. they’re ALL going to betray him!

I watched The Labyrinth as a child, read Lord Of The Rings and then in my teenage years I started painting miniatures and playing fantasy RPG's and Wargames.

goblins are pretty much my favorate thing to draw, I should really draw other things as well, but I keep coming up with Idea's like 'what if had a goblin doing this ....' and off I go again
