Description
A selection of my Human Mercenaries and their friends1> 'Amathorn the Ranger' this is the plastic Ranger from 3rd edition Talisman. I tend to use him as a Hired Sword in games of Mordheim: Empire in Flames or as a Mercenary Captain.
2> “I'm Brian Blessed!” - actually he's one of the 'ME-45 Dunlendings' from Citadel's old licensed Lord of the Rings range. This rather imposing figure is used as a Barbarian in games of HeroQuest and our Mordheim campaigns. When I can find some more classic Barbarian type models I will have him leading his own warband.
3> This scantily clad sorceress is a limited edition miniature from Harbinger Magazine. I removed the original staff (which looked like some kind of bejeweled boat paddle) from her left hand and replaced it with a sword from the Skeleton Sprue, using a plastic bead as the pommel. Fielded in games of Mordheim using the standard Warlock rules.
4> A classic Bretonnian sorceress from around the time of Warhammer Fantasy's 5th edition. Used in all kinds of games as your standard female magic user. I painted her wand to look like the head is glowing as she casts a spell
5> This is the C23 Giant Ogre 'Warrior Priest'. The Unicorn skull on his staff had been removed at some point in the past, so I replaced it with the blade from a plastic Orc chopper, to give him an Ogre sized 2 handed weapon.
6> Another classic Ogre. This one the C23 'Oriental Ogre', mostly sees use as an Ogre Mercenary in games of Mordheim along with #5. One day he will be hopefully joining my as yet unpainted Samurai Warband and going on some Oriental adventures in Cathray ... or will he hire him self out to the Hobgoblins?
7> This is Throbin Death Eye one of the 'BC3 Dwarf Lords of Legend'. These days Throbin hires him self out as a Troll Slayer in our Mordheim Campaign.
8> Another Barbarian Mercenary this one is 'Kloor Mighty Axe' one of the 'F3 – Barbarians' released in White Dwarf 95. I gave him a buckler from the Mordheim Accessory's Sprue because I couldn't find a shield small enough to fit behind his axe.
9> The Assassin/Thief. This suspicious dagger carrying hooded man is the Thief from an old Adventurers set by Citadel. This guy is normally found putting a knife in some ones back in our Mordheim Campaign.
10> This guy is an 'ADD03 Cleric with Mace' from Citadel's licensed AD&D range. I use him as a cleric in WFRP and he also makes a good Warrior Priest of Sigma for Mordheim
11> 'The Angry Farmer' this guy is usually seen yelling at Adventurers/Orcs/anyone, to “Ger off Mie Land!”. Put this rather characterful model together using parts from the Mordheim Mercenary Sprue, the Hairy Head Sprue and a pitch fork from the Zombie Sprue. He's a big hit with my friends from the west country.
12> Plastic Human Mercenaries from the Mordheim Box. These guys can be found defending villages from Orc Warbands, searching for Wyrdstone in the ruins or being used as cannon fodder in dungeons through out our games. The one in the center -that has more than a passing resemblance to John Cleese- has a shield from an old plastic Knight of the Realm from the 5th edition Warhammer Box.
13> 2 more Humans, nothing special really. The one on the left uses parts from the Empire Solider Sprue and the Hairy Head Sprue.
14> 'Rose the Gypsy' is the Gypsy from the range that accompanied 1st edition talisman. She tends to end up getting kidnapped by Chaos Cultists and sacrificed to the dark gods, only to be rescued by bands of heroic adventurers at the last moment.
15> 'Galamax the Wizard' my scratch built Warlock for Mordheim. The legs, arms, head and torso are from the Mordheim Mercenaries Sprue. The staff is from the Necrarch Vampire that come with the Zombie Dragon. The Cape comes from the Hairy Head Sprue and the hat is made from part of a Night Goblin's hood and a buckler from the Mordheim Accessory's Sprue

One can see really good paintjobs here! I'm quite impressed! I like your style, not toooo colourful, yet far from being boring to the eye!

thanks
yea, I tend to go for a mainly dark sceme with most of my miniatures using only 1 or 2 brighter colours per model.

It looks good and not every mini has to be a knight in shining armor!

Whole bunch of nostalgia for me here.
I just love the old-school Ogres.
Say...the scratch built wizard was a really neat idea!

Thanks dude
I have 2 more other old Ogres you'd love (The 'Ogre Champion' from the 'BC2 Monster Starter Set' and a pre-slotta from the Chronicle Miniatures - N14 Ogres that I belive may have been called 'Hobbit Slicer' both are as yet unpainted
yea, the Wizard is a good example of Mordheim on a budget

I seem to recall there was a fig called Mutant Ogre too? Hunched over with long hair?
It was very rare even back in the late 1980's

Yes, I'd imagine the mini was quite popular.

you never can tell, with rare miniatures - I mean everyone wants it now just because it's rare
I'm considering making a scratch built mutant ogre of similar design, a large Savage Orc body, find a suitable head (I think I have a Rackham Ogre head that would fit the bill) and then add some carved plastic spikes and a lot of green stuff ... I'll probably never get round to doing it though lol!
