Intelligent|Charming|Sarcastic|Impulsive|Deceptive
Tarvin Voss is an extremely intelligent man. He grew up in what could be considered the middle class on a planet in the Inner Rim, and got a good education in engineering at the best university he could afford. He's studied star-ship designs and technology, and has a good grasp about how they're put together - but he's best at engines. He likes to repair them, and wants to design his own fuel-efficient one some day.
He definitely likes to make the most of the situation. He tries to use his charm and charisma to make people feel less jittery when talking to him, and wants the conversation to keep going. Usually, he's the one to break the awkward silence.
However, he can be a bit snobbish and sarcastic at some points. Most times, he uses it to release tension in groups, but when an irritating peer rubs him the wrong way, he can get surprisingly snarky and offensive. Once he cools down, he'll apologize - if you deserve it.
Have a seemingly good opportunity at hand? Tarvin will take it. Wait, there's a bunch of sith showing up? Yeah, probably should've planned better. He's obviously been able to get out of a few tough situations, but it's always had some bad consequence come with it.
High intelligence defensively has its good sides, but there's always a dark side with it. For instance, when a peer is speaking to him about some unknown info, he'll play the nice guy - until you've walked right into his hands. Smugglers, politicians, and tradesmen have all fallen for some of Tarvin's tricks. In the end, it's for their own good, right?
⇋ History ⇌
Tarvin grew up in a pretty well-off household in the Inner Rim. He has no siblings, and his mother was a schoolteacher while his father was a mechanic for the local shipyard. They were mostly absent in his childhood years, but as he got older he went to the shipyard with his father after school and learned many things about spaceships and transports. Tarvin's interest in mechanics was sparked. He soon learned how to fly a simple transport ship after being taught by one of his father's friends. It was during one of these lessons that he became aware of his force ability.

A deep, accented voice, belonging to a man, responds.

Footsteps can be heard as Kelid, a nautolan with green headtails tied behind his back and out of the way, makes it over to the younger. The pressing of buttons is heard next as the younger voice speaks up again.
"Of course not! You and Dad have got me going crazy over all that diagnostic stuff! It's as thou - "
The older man scoffs, speaking over him.

The sounds of police sirens are heard outside as speeders surround the falling ship, trying their best to protect oncoming drivers. One gets closer.
"Get away from the controls, Voss! Police are here! Jump out the door and they'll catch you!"
Doing so, Tarvin got up from his seat and staggered over to the door. Wind whip his hair into his face. He jumped.

Entranced by his newfound power, his abilities soon grew with the help of his mother's holobook resources on the Jedi, recently un-banned (but unfortunetly still scarce) with the New Republic taking hold, and Kelid Virje's persistence. Soon, he honed his ability to the point where he could do simple jedi mind tricks (to help the occasional straggler or addict) and heavy lifting every once in a while. His father and Kelid still taught him how to fly, and soon he was able to get a licence and eventually his own ship. He's had quite the few adventures (including the mandaliorian terrorist group, that one old imperial shuttle, and the fickly kel dor businessman), and had made friends as well as enemies by the time he got to high school. Tarvin went to a good university a few years later and graduated with a degree in mechanical engineering. He said a good farewell to his parents, and looked to Coruscant for possible job opportunities. However, during the trip there, he found a... "job" on a planet where the people were harshly treated. Under an uncontrolled governor, he staged an underground movement to get the people off of the planet. With the help of his force abilities and a few friends, he was able to get the people to Coruscant where they pleaded for help for their people. Gaining good reputation withing the new senate, he was given many job opportunities and soon had his life well on his way. He got a hold of a pair of yellow synthetic lightsabre crystals and created the two that he now owns. He has no idea how to use them, but the time may soon come when the talent is needed...
⇋ Meeting ⇌
The night sky of Coruscant, illuminated by the numerous office buildings, skyscrapers, and government buildings, barely showed above the skyway as Tarvin Voss made his way towards the Babylon Shipyard. He'd had a good day at work today, so why not take the Windseeker out for a ride? He hadn't seen his ship in almost a weak, and he was sure the holocall to Kelid could wait. They'd been working on designs for a possible refit of the Windseeker, as its age was starting to show, and Tarvin didn't have the heart to let it go for another ship. While much older than when Tarvin was a kid, the nautolan Kelid Virje never lost his grasp for starship functionality. Though he was still systems away on Tarvin's home-world, he offered help on issues with the ship Tarvin didn't know how to fix himself. After the two-hour long call last night, he was sure the other man could wait another day before calling again.
As the spaceport came into view, Voss maneuvered his speeder down the skyway and landed. He waved his docking pass to the security guard at the gate ahead, and walked towards the shipyard.
It was unusually empty tonight. A few stray guards and tired shipmasters roamed the corridors, but the overall population was low, especially for a planet like Coruscant. He slowed his pace as he felt... a presence. An extremely powerful presence.
It was coming from his ship's loading bay.
The presence, for an instance, frightened Tarvin. Then, reciting the old Jedi mantra there is no fear in his head, he stalked towards the door, reaching for one of his lightsabres in his vest. He had absolutely no idea how to use it, but if the worst came to happen it could always be used as a tool of intimidation, right?
Sliding his pass through a access port, Tarvin slowly made his way through the entrance of the loading bay. His ship, a heavily modified MIY 1-2 starfighter, sat in the middle of the large open-aired room. A few small floodlights near the top of the bay provided only a small amount of light.
"Who's there?!" He shouted into the darkness. As he readied his lightsabre, he started making his way towards his ship. Reaching out to the force, he tried to localize the perpetrator's force signature. Whoever they were, they were close -
"Tarvin Voss."
Startled, Tarvin whipped around, activating his lightsabre, and then stopped. A tall figure in a robe stood before him. His force signature was off the walls. He radiated it, brightness in such a dark place... For some reason, the force told Tarvin he was not a threat. He ignored it.
"How do you know my name?"
The man before him chuckled, and started moving around him towards his ship.
"You are strong with the force, my friend. You're lucky I happened to be passing by."
Tarvin furrowed his brow. Lowering his sabre, he asked, "Who are you? How do you know about that?"
The man turned towards him after examining his ship. "The lightsabre's a dead givaway, I'd think. Your force presence is strong, but I think you've trained yourself to contain a good bit of it. With more training, you could pass off as force-absent."
Exasperated, Tarvin deactivated his lightsabre and backed up. "What? You a jedi or something, pal? I've had lots of people tell me they're still around; that "Luke Skywalker" propaganda sure stirred things up a few years ago. They're all liars, of course. They use fancy business tricks, raking in the credits as they go. All in all, the jedi have been extinct since the end of the Old Republic."
The man seemed amused. "Take a look at yourself, my friend. A jedi's weapon, a jedi's mindset - and the force presence of a jedi right in front of you, who will now say he was a quite close friend of Luke Skywalker. Can you truly believe they're gone when you yourself have the potential to be one?"
Tarvin got in the man's face. "I'll ask you again - Who. Are you?"
The man smirked, lifting his cloak's hood off of his head.
"My name is Liran De'Jannare, and I have a proposition for you."

Whew! That took a while to finish!
Anyways, a few weeks ago I found Align-the-Force , which is a kind of SW rp group I've been looking for for a while. I missed the opening date, but I'm just putting it up right now to have a good, stable idea about how I want Tarvin to behave (mostly in art that I make of him ). Anyways, I'll be there next opening!
Also, if there's anything I might need to change, just let me know! Got excepted into the group!

I want to apologize for the shortness, I didn't have anything to long in mind.
---
Brax had been spending quite a bit of time outside of the temple in the recent months, after all, it only caused him to think back to less then pleasant 'events'. There was at least a coverable reason though, he had a job besides being a jedi knight and that was being a senator. It wasn't the most noble profession to most, but he enjoyed politics, there was just something that was charming about it. Despite being obviously tired, he was smiling and ended up sitting in the main living quarters to look through his holopad messages.

Up! Slash! Down! Right! Duck! Repeat! Up! Slash! Down! Right! Duck! Repeat!
Tarvin repeated the mantra several times, balancing the yellow-bladed lightsabre in his hands, almost losing his grip several times. The light from Machae's sun bled through the dueling room he stood in, the reflections of polished wood wall panels calming his mind. The events that had taken place over the last few weeks were finally starting to catch up to his head.
Right now, he stood in a Jedi temple - something that would be almost unthinkable during the days of the Empire. He would now be able to protect more people than ever before - and he wouldn't even need to think about keeping a job while doing so.

At the sound of a new voice, Tarvin finished his exercise and deactivated his lightsabre. The newcomer looked a bit younger than him, and seemed very composed. He walked over and smiled. "Sure thing." He put slid his lightsabre on his belt and put out his hand. "My name's Tarvin Voss. Just got here a few weeks ago."

Unfortunately, going through the messages did not last as long as he thought it would, leaving the young politician rather bored. Voi and Tess are out of missions for the day, so I can't go bother either of them. Galen likely meditating or teaching, so I shouldn't break through that. This is fantastic, I have the entire galaxy at my disposal but yet I yearn for more. Brax huffed softly, before sloping the holopad into his pocket and walking towards the training rooms.
He expected the first room to be empty, but that was far from the case. Just go up and talk to him, it's not like anything bad could happen. After a moment, the knight cleared his throat. "Mind if I join you? I need to get a bit of practice, been off at the capital for nearly a week."

[That's alright, I honestly forgot about the thread too.]
Brax smiled in return, shaking the other's hand with a surprising optimism noting how tired the look from his eyes. "Pleasure to meet you Tarvin Voss, wish that I could have been here to greet you earlier." He glanced around the room for a moment before adding,"I'm still a bit rusty from having a bit of an incident on top of being away, but if there is anything you want me to help you with. I'll try my best."

"It's no problem, believe me!" Tarvin laughed, a hand on his hip in an apparent sign of casualness. "You've probably got more important thing to do in your time. Now, what your name?" He flipped his lightsabre in his hands. "You have any particular forme you study?"

"Ah, well that's debatable for a lot of the people here." Brax chuckled nervously, rubbing the back of his neck. I mean, not many people end up viewing politics in such a pleasant light in the first place. At the question though, he couldn't help but wince slightly. Of course... "Thoth Braxis, but please just call me Brax. It's what everyone ended up going with." He pulled his own lightsaber off of his belt, holding it in his left hand. "Form II is normally what I use, but I know a little bit of both."

Tarvin raked through his head for the information he'd learned on forme II. "That's a defensive style, right? I've read that many Jedi use it to duel with Sith opponents." He smiled. "Well, nice to meet you, Brax. I'm in the process of learning forme V, but if I ever get a hold of another lightsabre in the future, I'd like to learn forme VI. In the mean time, could you go through your basic exercises? I'd like to learn as much as I can before I head off to an assignment."

Brax nodded at that,"Yeah. I've always been more of a defensive person you know, if someone isn't attacking you then why try to strike a blow? I don't know, I'm rambling off my own ideology and I doubt that's something you're truly interested much in." He shifted positions slightly out of slight nervousness, before nodding at the suggestion. "That's a fantastic idea, I need to try to learn another style. Being so one note likely isn't going to work well if something does come up in the future." He begun to walk towards the side of the room, grabbing one of the wooden staffs before tossing one in Tarvin's direction. "You'll need to start at the basics, so your lightsaber will be sheathed for a while."

Tarvin caught the staff in the air (Oh, how the Force was great for reflexes!) and smiled gratefully. "Sounds like a plan to me, Master Jedi!" He walked to a corner of the room and placed his lightsabre on one of the shelves. Balancing the staff in his hand, he leveled his breathing and tried to tune himself with the mediocre hold he had on the Force.
"Alright, following your lead from here on out. We'll go through your exercises first."

He couldn't help but break a smile hearing that, I guess I could be counted as that now. "I am open for future suggestions, we just have to go through all of the basics first." Brax then grew quiet, not wanting to disturb the peace that had begun to flow through the room. I can teach, it can't be that hard. "Attempt to strike me, observe my movements."

Tarvin nodded, and held the training weapon like a quarterstaff. He was about four meters away at the moment.
He first closed his eyes. He breathed in. He breathed out. He opened them.
He crouched, and then, spinning the quarterstaff in his right hand, he dashed forward. As he caught up, Tarvin swung the forward of the staff towards Brax, hoping to catch his side.

He stayed in position, simply observing his surroundings. Let's just hope that I haven't gotten too rusty other these past few months. His grip on his own staff adjusted slightly, shifting completely over to his left hand. In that moment though Tarvin had begun to take action, Brax didn't flinch back instead lurching forward as well, causing the two staffs to clang against each other. He then swept the weapon around, in an attempt to catch a lower limb.

Fortunately or unfortunately his grasp was a little tighter then most, mainly due to the fact of his replaced hand. Which ended up causing him to slid across the floor, when it was suppose to send the pole flying. Brax paused for a moment to gather thoughts, before dashing forward in an attempt to hit the shoulder blades.

Tarvin whipped his staff back up in defense when a sudden idea occurred to him. Using his advantages of agility and force use, he started to rapidly spin his weapon while slashing it forward in large arcs. He hoped Brax didn't notice his opening.
(Any idea where you want to go with this? :0)

Brax for a few moments seemed startled by the sudden switch in attitude, taking a few steps backwards in some attempt stall enough in order to gather information to form counter. He took a short breath before dashing forward aiming his own staff towards the other's abdomen.
(I would say end the fight soon and maybe run from there? What do you want?)

Tarvin narrowly blocked the blow. However, he took the advantage again to try to disarm Brax by wrenching the opposing staff up and out of his opponent's hand. He hoped this "training session" would be over soon.
(I agree. Maybe an after scene where Tarvin's anger is explained and they leave as tense "friends?" Maybe in a way where Brax understands but they still dont get along?)

Brax's thoughts continued to plague his mind however, continued on making the fight a bit more troublesome then expected. The tides wouldn't begin to turn to some sort of sacrifice was made, he made the soft but yet sudden decision to just let go of his staff. Let's just hope this turns out well... He huffed softly at that, brushing a few strands of hair away from his gaze. "Guess I'm getting rusty."
(That works perfectly fine with me.)

Tarvin smiled. "Alright then, Brax." He pulled the quarterstaff away, shortened it, and bowed. "It was a good experience to train with you this hour. I have to apologize for directing my anger at you, but your actions brought up some bad memories."

Brax nodded faintly at that, mimicking the bow, then walking over to pick up his own staff. "It was a pleasure practicing with you as well, getting someone new in the mix is always good for everyone." He paused for a moment to consider his next response though, Today isn't the time for a lecture... "That's alright, if there's anything you want me to steer away from in the future let me know ahead of time."

Tarvin nodded. "Alright."
He thought for a minute.
"Don't get me anywhere near a politician. I've had some bad run-ins with them in the past, and, for their own sake I'd rather just keep my distance. I just came from Courscant, and it's safe to say I never want to go back there again."
He paused.
"Also, no gambling. I couldn't keep a good sabacc face if my life depended on it."

Brax nodded at that, knowing that the entitle always held a rather despotic standing with the majority of the public. "That's alright, you certainly have the right to believe whatever you want to believe. I'll give my life for you to be able to continue doing that." Luckily most of the meetings are by message and not actually being there, a lot more sanitary... "Trust me, I couldn't gamble if my life depended on it either. Never had the talent for it, just didn't fit my suits you know." He smiled softly, before beginning to walk towards one of the exit doors.

Tarvin smirked and nodded. As Brax started to walk away, he bowed deeply.
"I hope to train with you again, Jedi knight Braxis. I wish you farewell."
