Description
⇋ First Meeting ⇌
The night sky of Coruscant, illuminated by the numerous office buildings, skyscrapers, and government buildings, barely showed above the skyway as Tarvin Voss made his way towards the Babylon Shipyard. He'd had a good day at work today, so why not take the Windseeker out for a ride? He hadn't seen his ship in almost a weak, and he was sure the holocall to Kelid could wait. They'd been working on designs for a possible refit of the Windseeker, as its age was starting to show, and Tarvin didn't have the heart to let it go for another ship. While much older than when Tarvin was a kid, the nautolan Kelid Virje never lost his grasp for starship functionality. Though he was still systems away on Tarvin's home-world, he offered help on issues with the ship Tarvin didn't know how to fix himself. After the two-hour long call last night, he was sure the other man could wait another day before calling again.
As the spaceport came into view, Voss maneuvered his speeder down the skyway and landed. He waved his docking pass to the security guard at the gate ahead, and walked towards the shipyard.
It was unusually empty tonight. A few stray guards and tired shipmasters roamed the corridors, but the overall population was low, especially for a planet like Coruscant. He slowed his pace as he felt... a presence. An extremely powerful presence.
It was coming from his ship's loading bay.
The presence, for an instance, frightened Tarvin. Then, reciting the old Jedi mantra there is no fear in his head, he stalked towards the door, reaching for one of his lightsabres in his vest. He had absolutely no idea how to use it, but if the worst came to happen it could always be used as a tool of intimidation, right?
Sliding his pass through a access port, Tarvin slowly made his way through the entrance of the loading bay. His ship, a heavily modified MIY 1-2 starfighter, sat in the middle of the large open-aired room. A few small floodlights near the top of the bay provided only a small amount of light.
"Who's there?!" He shouted into the darkness. As he readied his lightsabre, he started making his way towards his ship. Reaching out to the force, he tried to localize the perpetrator's force signature. Whoever they were, they were close -
"Tarvin Voss."
Startled, Tarvin whipped around, activating his lightsabre, and then stopped. A tall figure in a robe stood before him. His force signature was off the walls. He radiated it, brightness in such a dark place... For some reason, the force told Tarvin he was not a threat. He ignored it.
"How do you know my name?"
The man before him chuckled, and started moving around him towards his ship.
"You are strong with the force, my friend. You're lucky I happened to be passing by."
Tarvin furrowed his brow. Lowering his sabre, he asked, "Who are you? How do you know about that?"
The man turned towards him after examining his ship. "The lightsabre's a dead givaway, I'd think. Your force presence is strong, but I think you've trained yourself to contain a good bit of it. With more training, you could pass off as force-absent."
Exasperated, Tarvin deactivated his lightsabre and backed up. "What? You a jedi or something, pal? I've had lots of people tell me they're still around; that "Luke Skywalker" propaganda sure stirred things up a few years ago. They're all liars, of course. They use fancy business tricks, raking in the credits as they go. All in all, the jedi have been extinct since the end of the Old Republic."
The man seemed amused. "Take a look at yourself, my friend. A jedi's weapon, a jedi's mindset - and the force presence of a jedi right in front of you, who will now say he was a quite close friend of Luke Skywalker. Can you truly believe they're gone when you yourself have the potential to be one?"
Tarvin got in the man's face. "I'll ask you again - Who. Are you?"
The man smirked, lifting his cloak's hood off of his head.
"My name is Liran De'Jannare, and I have a proposition for you."
"...A proposition?"
"Yes."
"...You're a jedi? A real jedi?"
"Why ask when the Force tells you so?"
"Wait. If you're a jedi - and yes, sure, I can accept the fact that you are - does that mean you want me to come with you?"
Liran nodded. "Yes. Your skills in the Force are powerful, but as stated before, with the training you would receive by coming with me would make you a great asset and teacher to later generations of jedi."
Tarvin, conflicted, looked away.
"Look, I'd love to come with you. I mean, the jedi have always been heroes in the eyes of the Republic. But I've got a good job here on Coruscant; I can't just leave these people behind! I have people counting on me!"
Liran sighed. "Yes, that would be an issue."
After a few moments, Tarvin sighed and said, "Can I think over it a bit?"
The other man nodded, then said, "I leave Courscant in 2 days. Give me your answer by then, and I'll arrange for somebody to escort you to the Jedi Praxium."
He bowed.
"May the Force be with you, my friend."
He turned, and vanished into the darkness of the docking bay.

Oh gosh, I hope I got Liran in character! At the time of writing this there was nothing on his app about his personality, so I kind of improvised.
Really proud of the pretty picture though~ I haven't been able to draw a good spaceship in a while!
I'll write the rest when I have time~
