Description
Sometimes I feel like my art defines me more than I define my art. This is how it feels.------------------------
My final project for Intro to Drawing. The assignment was to think of something we really cared about, something important to us, and show through a picture just how much we care about that something. So ya know, at first, I thought of the typical things like family and church and friends and stuff, but I really wanted to do something more specific to me. Then I thought, art is one of the most important things in the world to me. So after a lot of thought and sketching, always moving farther away from the blunt or direct approach, I came up with this. Being an artist means the world to me. And this is how it feels.
(watercolor, Prismacolor pencils, graphite - 18 x 24 inches - 10.5 hours) Sorry if the values look a little weird in places. I had to scan it in 8 pieces.
Major props to my roommate for being the best gravity-defying model ever. How did we do it, you ask? Magic.

I saw this... on elfwood, I think (haven't been there in ages). But I love the idea and everything behind it.

FTW
Y'know? Sometimes it's fun to have the art just get away from you... interesting things develop when a craft becomes sentient.

Wow. I know that feeling... like the muses taking over. I've yet to name mine.. I do talk to it though... It tends to change form depending on what I'm drawing.
I love it.
Your art is so beautiful.

Usually I'm too self conscious about my own poor and out-dated gallery to leave comments, but I have too for this. I've never seen a piece I could relate to more, you truly captured how it feels to love art. I cried when I saw this. Thank you for being incredible, and for giving a renewed life to my yearning to develop as an artist.

Yet she's a dimond in their dull grey lives. And that's the hardes kind of stone, it usually survives.
that is the first thing that kame to mind when I saw this. And might I say that this is absolutely beautiful. By the way, the music is from the musical Evita, by Andrew Lloyd Weber and Tim Rice.

lol He's not really the type to compliment people much, but he said it was "the classiest use of color he'd seen in a long time."

This is so inspiring the values are amazing, they look so real. It really is inspiring how art means so much to you, and this picture communicates it perfectly
Whoa. Did your roommate have to put up with that the whole time you were drawing her(10.5 hrs omg), or did you have to take a photo?!

I definitely took about 25 photos of her in that position, so she only had to hold it for a few minutes. Ten and a half hours would be madness. O.o lol
