a bipod? that means one of two things: A. the rifle has lots of recoil and kickback. B. the user just likes bipods

Actually, bipods and tripods are for a user down on the ground to provide a pivot point for the gun to swivel at while aiming without an arm extended out to hold up the weapon. They don't do anything for the recoil. That is compensated for in other ways, like weighing down the weapon, or using the gas to fight against the barrel rise.

It serves both as bipod or tripod. You can adjust the leg angle from the main joint. It can be twisted as well.Β
