That style bothers me a bit too. It made sense in shows like Adventure Time or Regular Show, it's a very simple art style that makes for quicker animation. It also tricks the viewers into getting comfortable with how easy and comfortable it is, and then the shows get intense or emotionally deep and it becomes a surprise to the viewer, like woah i didn't see that coming! this kind of style works with the really good writing on those shows.

But a style like this getting applied to shows like PPG2016 doesn't make sense, it's too simplistic for something like powerpuff girls, so it just comes off as lazy and cheap (another problem would be how terrible the overall character designs of this reboot are, but i don't like talking in depth about this show because it doesnt deserve discussion and should be buried with the rest of the dead memes and popculture references).

This is something you would see in a bootleg or terrible horror movie who would kill a couple while they sleep at 2 o'clock in the morning and then go to the fridge.
