Description
Today is the feast day of St. Therese of Lisieux, affectionately known among Catholics as "The Little Flower". Here is a photograph taken of her statue next to a stained glass window depicting Christ on the Cross. The photo was one of many taken at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in East Bakersfield (for a project I hope to work on soon). This church was founded in 1925 and is largely known to the Hispanic community in my city. The statues themselves are very old; some are chipped and even broken in places.St. Therese is one of my patron saints, and one of my favorite saints. I have a copy of her autobiography "Story of a Soul", given to me years ago by a sweet friend of mine who later died of Lou Gehrig's Disease, but who was very devoted to The Little Flower.

Glad you like, thanks! Those candles are kinda cute.
I wanted to burn one myself, but they needed a donation and I was broke. Though I guess I could have paid it next time...
I love stained-glass. If you'd like to see more, here's a video I uploaded yesterday: [link]

Isn't it pretty? They've got lots of nice windows like that one. I've got a few more photos of them and I'll upload them later this week.

Isn't it pretty? It's very old, probably as old as the church itself. Glad you like the photo, thanks!
Your patron saint is St. Vincent? Interesting! They just had his feast day last Saturday!

Saint Mary's has a nice statue of the Blessed Mother that was given to the Church by Queen Anne...she even gave us a Holy Communion Set that we use on Easter and Christmas.
Yuppers!! Me patron saint is Vincent and me middle name is Vincent as well
Yes, I do believe he had his feast last Saturday
And I was at Church being an Acrolyte on that day as well

Awww, I'll bet they're both beautiful! And how nice that you got to be Acolyte on your own Saint's feast day!

Yes, that was so very nice indeed
Talking about Saint Mary's, me Priest, Father Haynes was immediately called to his mother's home in Illinois...his boyhood home that is well over 200 years old and was a gorgeous farmhouse that was kept in the family for generations. Well his mother was vacationing in Ireland (his father passed away years ago) and we haven't recieved word of what caused it, but while she was away the house suddenly burned to the ground. Since the fire started in the upper floor of the historic farm house, the authorities suspect lightning may have hit it. Thank God no one was injured or killed in the fire, but losing your home along with all the memories and ir-replaceable heirlooms is quite tragic and devistating. So please keep Father Haynes and his family in your prayers

Oh, how awful about that poor woman's house! It's heartbreaking enough to have your house burn at all, but such a lovely old place at that...but thank God nobody was harmed. I'll surely pray for Fr. Haynes and his family.
