Description Finally did one of these! I wanted something different but in the end, I wasn't going to let a night's work go to waste LOL The information below is still a work in progress and I'll be sure to get a full body anatomy guide up soon. Until then, if you want to get an idea of their bodies, refer to:

Features, Physical and General
Varquins(or Varqs for short) are pudgy, mostly bi-pedal, omnivorous creatures that can wield elements of magic. Their power is stored in their cheek pouches.

Varquins' cheek pouches, blood, toe beans paw pads, claws, and mouth will always be the same color as their element. Eyes are also usually the same color, unless in the case of a mutation. Cheek pouches and pawpads will glow when in use.

They have two sets of eyes. The normal set can see well in the daytime but are not good for night. The smaller, top set are for night vision and are usually closed during the day as they are sensitive to sunlight. Sometimes, a mutation will cause a Varquin to be born without its night eyes.

They have wide hips, pudgy bellies, and a belly pouch. They have very large, strong forearms and four claws on each large hand, as well as an opposable, clawed thumb. These large paws and claws are great for shredding, ripping, digging, fighting, etc. They have three clawed toes on each foot. Their pawpads have a leather-y feel.

Coat colors are vastly different, ranging anywhere from pastels to saturated brights and from dark to the absence of melanin completely. Markings have also been recorded to have a very broad range.

Their height can range between 3 to 5 feet. Their lifespan tends to average around 60 years old.

Many are born with mutations, though the reason is still unknown to this day.

Behaviour
Varqs have adapted well to human life. They are intelligent and complex creatures with a wide range of emotions. Generally, they are happy, fun-loving, and loyal creatures, great for companionship. They love food and friendship and are very social, though some are born with more sour or reserved attitudes than others. Shorter heights have been linked to aggression, whereas taller Varqs tend to be more relaxed and sweeter in nature.

Diet
Varqs enjoy many foods. Meat, fish, vegetables, and fruit are their main diet, while grains, nuts, and sweets have been adapted into most of their diets as a result of human culture. Dairy gives them tummy troubles.

Sex, Gender, and Reproduction
Varquins are genderless but not sexless. They are both sperm-producing and egg-producing and can take either role in reproduction as they please. They are monotremes, laying eggs instead of giving live birth, and they produce milk for their young. Their pudgy bellies and pouches are the perfect incubation for eggs and warmth for newborn pups. Ovulation occurs bi-monthly(once every other month, or six times in a year) and eggs take anywhere from a week to a month to hatch. Experimentation with both pronouns and sexuality is encouraged in Varquin society. However, most tend to mate for life. The stages from egg to pup are very special bonding experiences for most Varquin couples and it brings many closer together.

Culture and Spirituality
Varquins have their own language, but being intelligent, sentient creatures, many learn to speak human languages. Most Varquins follow traditional culture and worship the ten elemental deities and the Allquin, the deity they believe created everything. They are very respectful of other cultures and religions and will never try to push their own beliefs on others. However, they love to share if someone is interested. There are also a majority of Varquins who have no belief in the deities and instead, worship the land, another higher power(sometimes of a different religion), or themselves.
