Photo taken in July, 2013 @ Natura Artis Magistra, Royal Amsterdam Zoo, The NetherlandsAfter more than 70 years of absence, the Komodo Dragon has returned to the Amsterdam Zoo.
There are two youngsters in the Reptile House, and since they're still young - and small comsidering the size they'll become - they are at least for now, in an enclosure behind glass, between the Geckos, Snakes and other Lizards.
Species: Komodo Dragon or Monitor (Komodo varaan)
Latin name: Varanus Komodoensis
Originates from the Indonesian islands Komodo, Rinca, Flores, Gili Motang and Padar.
Current status: Vulnerable
