Description
When: April 11, 2019
Where: Faunapark Flakkee Nieuwe-Tonge, The Netherlands
It's not every day that these busy and fast Squirrels sit still quite so prettily
Species: [North] American Red or Pine Squirrel (Rode Amerikaanse of Hudson eekhoorn)
Latin name: Tamiasciurus Hudsonicus
Originates from North America.
Current status: Least Concern
Did you know:
…Both the North American and European Red Squirrel are often simply called “Red Squirrel” but they should not be mistaken for one another – if only because they’re regions don’t overlap.
…North American Red Squirrels and Tree Squirrels live in the same area, but the Red is a fair bit smaller. They’re more comparable to Chipmunks.

Nice shot. I feed two that look very much like this one everyday. They do like peanuts and seeds to I take good care of them especially during cold times.

Thanks
I think if you live in America, it's very likely to see guys like this
I'm glad they've got someone to depend on for food; weather is crazy all year long, they need food and water if we can provide it

Thank you for sharing that!
I reckon they can bite pretty hard, but also, having a small critter running around like crazy must be scary for a kid... Still, for Chester to then bite your Mom sounds a bit unfair..
Thank you

I see these every day! It’s funny when one bashed another with its tail.

That's so hard to imagine for me - wild Squirrels are crazy rare around here. So cool to be able to see them so easily, and all the fun antics too
