The other reason I, for one, really wanted to visit this zoo: the baby Peccaries

I didn't think we'd actually see them, because the adults seemed to be very protective and from what I remembered from the enclosure, photographing and even seeing them would be very hard.
But they were just right there Photographing them was still very hard (indoors) and they were super quick! Still we managed to snap a few good shots and are sharing the best of them with you. Basically, because even if they're not the best shots, there aren't enough baby Peccary photos on DA

Species: Collared Peccary (Halsbandpekari)

Latin name: Pecari Tajacu

Originates from North, Central and South America.

Current status: Least Concern

Did you know:

… Peccaries are also referred to as Javelina, Saíno and Báquiro, though these names are more commonly used to describe other species in the family.

… This specific species is also known as the Musk Hog, and in Trinidad, Quenk.

… Althouh somewhat related to pigs and frequently referred to as one, this species and the other Peccaries are no longer classified in the pig family.

… It is the smallest Peccary in the family.
