Description
When: September 9, 2018Where: Zie-ZOO Volkel, The Netherlands
We don't often see these guys, and when we do, it's incredibly hard to photograph them. We're always too late, and they're gone before we can get one photo in. But sometimes, we are more lucky and get to witness and capture the special, calm moments
Species: Wolverine (Veelvraat)
Latin name: Gulo Gulo
Originates from remote reaches of the Northern boreal forests and subarctic and alpine tundra of the Northern Hemisphere.
Current status: Least Concern
Did you know:
…They are also known as Wolverene, Glutton, Carcajou, Skunk Bear or Quickhatch.
…The Wolverine is the largest land-dwelling Mustelid, though with is stocky and muscular build, it resembles a small Bear more so than other Mustelids.
…A solitary animals, it has a reputation for ferocity and strength out of proportion to its size, with the documented ability to kill prey many times larger than itself. Yet they are considered to be primarily scavengers.

Such a lovely photograph; it looks soft and sweet, which is a fascinating deception, considering how vicious they are.

Thanks
Haha, I often see them in a fun and playful or really mellow feed. I have seen videos of them demonstrating more vicious behavior. It's pretty impressive to see what they're capable of

If you're interested to see more of what they're capable of, then look up Wisconsin wolverines; absolutely gorgeous killing machines.

Once on Discovery Channel, I saw a SINGLE wolverine drive off 4(!) wolves, all larger then himself (but all significantly slimmer than him as well) from their own kill!
