I don't know where the short hairs came from. But he was very proudly and happily collecting them, and didn't want to let them go.

Granted, while Dogs aren't allowed inside the zoo (aside from support Dogs) this outside aviary is actually set on the outer edge of the zoo - and there's a sidewalk really close to it from which the hairs may have drifted.

Species: Superb Starling (Driekleurige glansspreeuw)

Latin name: Lamprotornis Superbus syn. Spreo Superbus

Originates from East Africa.

Current status: Least Concern

Did you know:

…They look very similar to the Hildebrandt’s Starling, but can be distinguished by the eyes. The Superb has pale creamy-white eyes as opposed to the red eyeds of the Hildebrandt’s.

…Only adult Superb Starlings have a white breast band.
