Description
This is the kind of majesty where it doesn't even matter that we are here. There is no way we could conquer the cold with the icy steam from our mouths. The cold eats you; slowly bites and nibbles at your fingers and toes until there's nothing left but the rusty remnants of a race that once thought they ruled the Earth.
The sunlight breathes life into the trees, illuminating them one by one and chasing away the frost that choked them into a comatose.
I matter not. The rock upon which I sit does not care for my presence and the stones beneath my shoes do not care as I roll them from their slumber; a mere mortal, a mere human could never change this landscape for good. Not even clouds dare taint the volcanoes' sky. Or maybe they just have more sense than me and are hiding away somewhere warmer.
Every new angle is breathtaking, as is the cold in a more literal way. Breathe into me the warmth of sweet love notes and petty troubles. Condensation on the windows speaks of safety, but these structures will be destroyed with the cold, when the time comes.
These words could not possibly document it. Nor could photos or sketches or videos of people dancing from the chill. You have to be here.
