Description
They say we die twice: we die once when we die physically, and then for a second time when someone says our name for the last time.I can believe that. Shakespeare is immortal. My late grandfather will die when I tell for the last time the story of how my father, as a child, sawed his cauliflowers in half.
We fear being forgotten. We all want to have a legacy. So we create; a legend, a book, a song, a building, art, anarchy, a revolution, anything greater than ourselves. Some create better than others. People will remember 'Macbeth'. People will not remember the cauliflowers my grandfather created, or the slices my father made in them.
I am creating this right now. This is my story. Hi. My name is Bec, or Rebecca Claire Hurford, if you like. I believe in love and chaos and stars and science. I believe in creating.
Will you remember me? Will your children? Your great-grandchildren?
I want to make a mark in the form of architecture. Will that be enough?
We tell stories to survive, so here I am, alive.
Are you alive? Perhaps. Are you living right now? No. You are reading this. You're reading my story, and so I am alive, but you are in suspended animation, just for this moment.
They say you die twice; you die once when you die physically, and once when someone says your name for the last time. Don't let me die.
