Description
Commission for Koutastainowl on FA. The inspiration for this was how Kouta (the wolf) is the "souls' guardian of animals butchered by humans". I derived this image, and the scene below, from this concept. "The wolf trod carefully along the snowy path, the trees watching him pass. Only his footsteps could be seen dotted in the snow, but he was not alone.
A deer, a fox, a hare, and an owl accompanied him, but they did not possess footsteps, nor shadows. Their bodies were semi-transparent, the surrounding forest visible through their bodies. They were not of the living, the wounds on their bodies like words, telling the story of their last moments.
The fox turned to the wolf, its eyes ablaze with an otherworldly glow. It opened its mouth, but no words were said. Instead, a sound like a gentle breeze reached the wolf’s ears, and he could feel, rather than hear, what the fox was saying.
It told of its life, of the young it had to leave prematurely. It was clear, even in the whispers, that it was saddened for what it had to leave behind. With hesitation, it spoke of how it had stolen a farmer’s poultry to feed its young. When it unknowingly returned the next night, the hunter had been waiting, and a gunshot resounded. A bullet had plummeted into its leg, rendering it unable to flee. In the terror filled last moments, the farmer ended the life with a knife to the throat.
The wolf sighed. He had heard these sorts of stories often, as he led the souls of these creatures toward their resting place. But he could not provide comfort to them. He only hoped that what they would find at the end of this forest would ease their sorrows and regrets.
As they neared the end of the forest, wisps of light began to trail behind the souls, and their eyes shone like the moon’s light. They were almost there, to a place of peace, away from cruelty, harm and unnecessary death by human hands. A sanctuary for poor souls. The wolf watched them bound toward the light faster, steps becoming leaps and wings fluttering. He was the guardian of these souls, their saviour. With his guidance, they will find their resting place and be at peace forever more."

Thank you!
I've always liked the idea that the dead would exhibit their lifetime's worth of wounds. Creepy but interesting. >u>

Wonderful concept, Kei! ^^ I love the curled wisps of light on the souls. It almost makes me think of Celtic knotwork. :3

This is beautiful, I love the transparency of the 'souls' around the living wolf. And the fading gray background adds kind of a sense of eeriness to the entire piece, which is fitting with the ghosts.

Thank you very much!
A sense of eeriness and otherworldly themes was definitely my goal here. To know I have achieved that makes me incredibly happy. :'D

Random question (I ask every writer this, haha), what's the longest thing you've written? c:

Whoa, that's a lot of words! Jeez, I wish I had the motivation for that. :'D
My longest is a story with around 76,000 words, but is still a work in progress.

Writing always is a work in progress. Lol, takes soooooooo loooooooong DX
But since im a lazy 17 year old with little things to do writing is thus almost all i do ;D
I am also creating the first Anthro RP site so thats gonna be fun xD

I don't think i'll ever finish my stories. :'D
I just wanna add in so many things but never get the time. ;n;
I wish I started writing a bit more when I was younger. I had plenty of time to do it, but was too lazy to do anything. xD
There's no such thing as an anthro RP site? Huh, that's actually very weird. There's normally an RP site for everything under the sun. xD

Well there are Anthro SITES. Like Fur Affinity and such where RP might take place. But there is no text base full on RP site where thats pretty much all there is. Only site that has anything close to anthro's is Souls but...thats a werewolf RP xD
So yeah, this will be the first one ;D
And yes. That is understandable, after all we get older and get more things to do with our lives writing seems to get harder and harder. Thats why i spent three years developing my story before writing it so i did not lose interest. And i also made it a long series (Like Warriors) So i can easily add things later if i wanted to. :3

Woop!
One small step for man... one giant leap for anthro kind!
I think my dream is to complete my fantasy based story, which I hope to make into a trilogy. But i'm making sure to have it all planned out before I start, because most of the time I get ideas and just start without any direction. xD
