Description
The other day I bought the book "The Golden Door" by Emily Rodda, and i'm really liking it so far. Took a while before it really grabbed my interest, inside Weld was a bit boring for me.I felt like drawing the scene where Rye was chased by a bloodhog into a tree, and couldn't make himself come down, even after the beast was killed. It amused me so. :B Also made him into a wolf because I suck at drawing people.
And I can't remember if Rye's eye colour was mentioned.. i'm assuming blue for now. At least I remember he had red hair. xD
At first I didn't like Rye's character, but he's growing on me. I guess I was just comparing him to Lief from Deltora Quest, although I think Rye is a bit more short-tempered and even a bit under confident, as he seems to rely on his brothers a bit too much.
Speaking of Deltora Quest, I see some familiar references in this book... I guess Rodda just couldn't leave the story as it was. ;D
I don't think I can wait for the release of the next book. :C
The Golden Door and Rye belong to Emily Rodda.
Wolf version of the character was created by me. (And will probably need a re-design before being drawn again. xD)

On a completely unrelated note, i'm open for commissions! Check out my journal for more info: [link]

Well, at least Rye isn't always day dreaming like Leaf was. Seriously it was like; Hey, look at that, Jazmine is being attacked by the golden warrior, maybe I should go help... HEY LOOK, A BUTTERFLY!!!

Another Three Doors reader? Awesome! Have you read the other 2 books? c:
I've read all three books multiple times, and i'm pretty sure they never mention Rye's eye colour. So I used my artistic freedom there. cx

Emily Rodda is my absolute favourite author.
If you like The Three Doors, then you should also check out Deltora Quest and Rowan of Rin. They all have a similar structure and concept.

cool, i saw some of the Deltora Quest on TV when they made it a show but i thought it was kind of strange in anime, but if they made The Three Doors a movie series i might watch them coz i REALLY like the books! XD XP

The Deltora Quest show isn't as good as the books, trust me. xD It's average in comparison.
I agree! I wish the studio that produced the Harry Potter films took on The Three Doors. My life would be complete then~ xD

Okay, this has to be the first Golden Door fanart I've seen... And needless to say, I am still in awe of your wolf-characters. They are amazing...
I found that first part in Weld pretty boring too, but it was there to set up the rest of the trilogy, I guess...
And yes, Rodda said herself that she just couldn't leave the Deltora universe alone. She'd spent to much time developing the world and it's characters to ever really let it go. So I can't wait for these other two Door books either, mate.
Also, did you get the extra book that was meant to come free with The Golden Door? It had some never before seen stories in it, similar to those in Tales of Deltora.

I looked all over dA, even other art sites, but alas not one Golden Door fanart. I was hoping to see at least one interpretation of the characters by someone...
After they were outside the wall it got really interesting- I was so glued into the book I didn't want to sleep. xD
I'm glad Rodda couldn't just let the Deltora universe go, it's too much of an awesome place to ever forget about.
And yes, I did get that free book, although I got it a while back from a book store owner who knew I was an Emily Rodda fan. xP So almost instantly realization bells went off after just starting to read the Golden Door. I was pleasantly surprised.

Strangely as a writer, I don't read too much else outside of a few personal interest books. I have a superstition of other people's works bleeding into my own. ._.
Wonderful pic though, pose and all. c:

Haha, I can understand where you're coming from. xD
But Rodda is definitely a good author. Her books are probably the only ones I make an effort to own. Of course there's still a few more to go, but i'm getting there. xD
But thankyou very much! C:

It's such a shame too since I do love literature ... but it's so predominate in my mind that it really does work over into what I'm currently writing. I know I can't make something completely original, but what I want is not going to be the same as what I had just read. :c So I try my best to read and write at separate times. ._.
Speaking of which, chapter 1 is nearly on it's way! I'll be so excited to have it done. :3
No problem. : D You're such a talented artist. It's a wonder to have watched your talent grow. c: It seems everyday you get better and better. I'm truly impressed. ^^

Haha, I guess that happens. Now that I think about it, i'm pretty sure I used some of Rodda's language and writing style in my English exam. xD
But since i'm not much of a writer, it doesn't really bother me. But I do understand where you're coming from.
I'm excited to read it! It's gonna be awesome, I just know it. x3
Wow, thankyou so much for the kind words. ;-;

I have done similar before after having read "The Sight". Great book by the way. : D
Me too. I'm having fun writing it, especially since its an idea I finally get to use. :3
I simply speak from the heart. I mean, for the 4 years I've known you, you have gradually and drastically gotten better at drawing. c: It's so cool seeing how great you've become.
You are truly a great artist and an awesome friend. : D
people like you are rare to come by nowadays.

Wow, it's been 4 years? And yet you still put up with me. :'D
And I feel the same- you've also improved a lot in the amount of time that I have known you, in both writing and drawing.
You're probably the only person who has stuck by me the whole time i've been on any art sites up until now. I'm grateful that you've done so. :')
And of course I can say that you're one of those rare people that are hard to come by- an amazing person all round. :'D

Yeah, it's hard to believe. XD four years come and gone; it's kinda wild.
It's so good to hear that I have been improving as an artist. Most of the time I get depressed because I feel as though I haven't progressed. : c
Well, I don't know what there is to put up with other than your funniness. xD
And thank you much. x3

It's obvious how much you've improved over the years. As they say, the artist is always their own biggest critic. Even I go through that depressive stage every now and then. xD
Don't worry, your stuff is amazing.
My.. funniness? xD
Haven't heard that one before. x3

thank you, that means a lot ;w;
