Here is my first entry for corviture 's MYO Aetherling contest

I was originally going to use it for Oxide but I couldn't get it to suit his personality and character, it looks much better with Kauri since it is more of an elegant looking feature. Above is a sketch showing the update but if I manage to get her I will make a proper full ref sheet with the drake body. Other than the shape she will be all the same but I did slightly change some crystal shapes to suit her new body better but it is practically no different. All her markings and accessories will not change.

Name: Kauri (pronounced car-ie) in memory/honor of my old snake.

Gender appearance: Female

Age: Young adult

Essence: Snakeskin

Rarity traits: Rare drake type body

Size: see image (1) compared to normal cat, still growing since she is only young adult.

Flat colour: see image (2) snakes ;u;

Inspired by the rare piebald snake.

About her:

Kauri prefers to be alone or with the company of friendly reptiles. She travels observing reptiles as she has a strong interest in them, she also loves their anatomy and bones but wont kill for these. She mostly locates in hotter dryer terrain but will venture into forest area. Kauri is very particular about her appearance and enjoys having her hair played with and styled by anyone and will spend bad weather hidden away styling her hair.

ACCESSORIES

a) gold snake staff - she uses this as a self defense weapon as the bottom is sword shaped but she doesn't like violence, it is only if she is attacked first. She usually hooks this in the other side of her belt (opposite of (f) under the snakeskin).

b) shed snakeskin hood - she uses this to protect herself from the harsh sun. it is thin so allows breath-ability. Gold trimmed with leaf patterns and fastened with mouse skull.

c) two hooped earrings - one has a tassel and the other a small stone.

di) snake skull mask - she wears this more for fun and appearance than anything else. Painted patterns with ground red earth paint.

dii) preview of how mask is worn - it has a 'V' shape cut out of the top so hair sits in the middle. She wears it when around others but can hook it on the base of her tail crystals if not wearing.

ei) side 1 of snakeskin belt - this belt holds her gear, side 1 has her favorite crystal she uses to grind things up and jar of poultice she uses for cuts and scratches.

eii) side 2 of snakeskin belt - this side holds a feather for writing with or putting in her hair and a pouch of ration food and extra gold leaf (see (k)).

f) preserved baby gecko jar - she doesn't have a use for this but likes to observe anatomy of reptiles and finds it 'cute'.

h) snake vertebrae - for looks. She loves these.

i) tail snake vertebrae - again, for looks.

j) silk tail scarf - gold bead on the end. She wraps this around her tail to stop it dragging if she is traveling.

k) golf leaf - this is always changing, she doesn't always have this one since it is precious and for appearance. The shape, amount and pattern is always changing, she sometimes sticks it on in shapes like scales or stripes.

l) tail strings - simply for looks, she sometimes adds a small bell on since she likes the sound.

m) hair bead (see flat colour image ) - this is sometime stored in her pouch (eii) but depends on hair style at the time.

My promise:

I have always wanted an aetherling as soon as I discovered them and if I manage to win/purchase one I WILL create lots of art, treat them as my child and defiantly make an art doll of one of these beauties. I have been wanting for a while now to turn one of these into a full sized poseable art doll, accessories and all!

I am really happy with how this design turned out! If I had more time I would add more details and shade her better because she has a really crappy shade job right now XD I am still getting used to digital art and came across many problems when making this so please forgive the roughness, poor quality lines and odd ends.
