Well it's that time of year again. I actually missed #artvsartist last year because I was in the middle of job interviews. This year I have basically no new art because I got a job as an Associate Environment Artist! So I figured I would catch up on sharing my work from 2022.

2022 and 2023 have been huge years for me.

First I wrapped up my character design class with Devon Cady-Lee. This was a great experience and I highly recommend him as a teacher! I feel like I learned a lot in both design thinking and execution.

Then I got my first professional art gig with Ambertail Games doing item and prop concept art. I am so grateful for this wonderful opportunity. The team was great to work with and the art direction was so fun. I can't wait to see Amber Isle come to life and play it!

I decided to use the extra money from the Ambertail gig to take some more art classes and explore different art fields, since I had been waffling about what career to pursue. I ended up taking a the Creating Stylized Game Assets CGMA class by Ashleigh Warner. I had been dabbling in 3D game art for quite some time and wanted to take a real stab at learning it properly.

This ended up being a great decision because I totally fell in love with the process of 3D environment art. I felt like the work was a good combination of my artistic and technical thinking skills. I really enjoy the planning aspect of it, and finding creative solutions to optimize or achieve certain results.

Fast forward to today, and I have been employed as an environment artist on World of Warcraft with Blizzard Boston for almost a year! 🥳🎉 It is still kind of unbelievable looking back and seeing how much I have achieved these past 2 years. I have wanted to be a professional artist my whole life and that dream has come true! Not only that, but I get to work on an IP that I love and with an awesome team at a stable company. I mean WHAT?! I am so grateful to be given these opportunities, and so glad I never gave up on this dream.
