At long last I finally finished this, and also at long last, the new Sonic game will finally be revealed today! Or for me tomorrow at 2am. I know Shadow the Hedgehog doesn't represent Sonic very well but I kind of wanted to draw something of it anyway. I'm pleased with the way this one turned out but I'm not totally sold on the watercolour fire. Any feedback or constructive criticism is welcome and is much appreciated.Also, this is one of the rare occasions you see Shadow smiling. Originally I was going to draw him as some kind of dark and gritty madman with a cigarette and everything. It's probably for the best that I didn't.

I think it's safe the say that the way you've drawn Shadow and the fallen trooper is excellent and has a unique style. However is the weird shading meant to be like a helicopter shining its light upon him? Because I noticing some orange and I'm pretty sure it's not meant to be there hehe. If it is, I don't think that was clear enough. I'm no expert on lighting myself, so I think it's just something you'll figure out the more you do it. The smoke effect of the gun is a little off due to the thick outline but it's enough to detract from the piece. I would have to agree that the fire isn't that great, I didn't even recognise it as watercolour XD. But other than those 2 things, solid stuff

First of all, thanks so much for the comment and for being honest, it really does mean a lot.
Looking at it now, the shading does sort of look like a helicopter light but it was originally just how I did Shadow at the time, or maybe it was to work with the orange which was meant to be the fire, although that also looks sort of strange being so high up now. I agree on the lighting, it is something that develops over time, and as you can see from my older stuff it used to be worse. The smoke effect had the bold outline because I was originally going for a comic style with bold outlines, but like you say, it does look a little off now. As for the fire (you'll probably find this funny), this was when I first started using watercolour, and until recently, I realised I was doing it completely wrong. I made the dumb mistake of putting the pencil in water which is why it looks so terrible. Thanks again for your comment though, it's really encouraging.
