She tends to play with her opponent in different ways, not just going straight-forward into a problem, due her tendency to cunning and malicious deeds, disguised with goodwill. At least those actions are regarded as such by others; the queen herself calls it “politics”.

Sagacious:
Being cunning herself, she developed a good sense of intuition (You’ll never know who would put a knife in your back, do you?), which granted her ability to make right conclusions and predictions and make up a new line of behavior towards different people most of the time.

Vindictive:
Remembers all tiny little things and pranks you played on her God know when. She may not speak of it, but she always tends to avenge herself, her subordinates, and her country in one way or another. Combined with a lot of patience, her revenge can come in many years totally unexpected.

Cold-blooded:
Contrary to popular belief that the queen is a hot-tempered woman, Octavia is very calm and cool. Her actions are full with royal self-mastery, and she tends to hold herself in hands most of the time. That makes her able to take reasonable decisions in unstable political situation and dealing with such people as Hatter, Cheshire or Caterpillar.

Distrusting:
After all the family distrust and betrayal she experienced as a child and teenager, Octavia finds it very hard to trust someone. Only her closest servants who proved themselves to be trustworthy are granted her favour, thou she still holds any emotional attachment back as possible. (If she doesn't she becomes very possessive of the subject).

The Mace: The Mace of Power is a relic passed through the generations of Corden family. Dark artifact, sucks the life power of its master and has the will on its own. However, it strengthens the wielder physically and can bring out hidden magic abilities. Can manipulate the energy spared inside itself - the more life power is accumulated. The Mace usually heavily affects the user, twisting it in its own favour, if the owner hasn't enough willpower to make the Mace obey.

Blood - related magic: Her mother was a charmer, so Octavia inherited her blood. Her abilities were hidden from her though, until she found the mace. It's her magic what prevents her from aging and dying through using the mace: she suck up the life through hearts of her victims and preserves her youth through bloodbaths. With time she learned to manipulate other's people blood, but only if she had tasted it, otherwise she's powerless. She prefers to keep her abilities hidden from other people, using them only for her own benefit.

H i s t o r y :
Octavia was the eighth child in the royal family. Her father Cron von Corden was known as Red King or Red Tyrant, as his reign for the land of Red Hearts was one of the grimiest. He was a severe, violent man, who loved public executions so much, that he had little interest in anything else, not even his family. The first three princes came from the first wife before she was killed by a half-human slave, and this led to the worsening of racial tension in the country. The second wife gave birth to 4 sons, but unfortunately suffered through serious illness and died shortly after giving birth to her last son – Septimus. The King only grieved briefly, for now he grew paranoid that his heirs would kill him for his throne. His lust for power and fear of losing it drove him mad, and he was growing more desperate and anxious by the day. With his judgment clouded, he was willing to place his trust and faith in magic.

The fortune teller, however, only strengthened the king’s doubts, by telling him, that one of his heirs would kill him and take his throne. Blinded by rage he heavily injured his 7 years old son Primus, when he was stopped by a court lady, who told him not to commit the sin of killing his own child. That was Octavia’s mother. Infatuated by her beauty and purity, the king lowered his sword and married her in a week.

Despite his fear of yet another heir being born, it was almost as if Lucia had charmed him (and she did). She was a calm, clever woman, who assisted the king during the year of her pregnancy and it was one of the good years. She also dissuaded her husband from killing his sons and she gave him the idea to set them into a challenge when they are past ten. This challenge would determine the rightful heir, and the King felt secure in the idea of the boys being pit against each other rather than turning on their father.

The pregnancy however, was going hard for her, slowly sucking up the beauty and health of young woman. This resulted in her death by childbirth and deep grief of the king. Octavia, though, was born healthy and lucky – being a female excluded her from a bloody race her brothers were involved into. The young princess was the image of her mother and madly loved and protected by her father and adored by her brothers. But her happy childhood years ended rapidly. The seven princes were literally put in war – only one of them had the right to survive and succeed the throne of the country. The king observed, growing indifferent to anything including the situation in the land and his subjects pleads and needs.

Octavia watched her brothers falling into depravity, misery and desperation, trying to kill each other. Even if she wasn’t involved, this hostility greatly affected her. She learned what love and admiration around her were only a fake, and she was rather used as a tool by her brothers for influence, support, or even threats. She realized the worthlessness of her own existence in this circle of blood enmity, and the death of her brothers Tertius and Quintus only brought her depression and slowly change of motives. A loss of a blood-relative scarred and hardened her heart, bringing her to hate the king for such a cruel game and her brothers by obeying him. None of them was her hero or support anymore, and being totally out and alone she also got the whole image, excluding her personal view completely. She stayed nice, charming, young – as she was before, never showing her real grim intent of ending this in her own favour. She had access to knowledge, power, and infinite possibilities to develop in her free time. So instead of things more suitable for a young lady, she was interested in history, strategy, economics, and geography. With time she grew knowledgeable in many things the Land of Red Hearts was confronting. She also took three more brothers out of the way, helping the remaining Primus and Septimus implicitly.

But by that time the ending of the relatives’ war wasn’t enough for her. Octavia found none of her brothers suitable to become a good king, and Cron wasn’t suitable to remain on the throne. There wasn’t room for them in her heart anymore. However, her brothers slowly began to understand the real nature of their sister; at least they became more cautious, believing they are in the final stage of their struggle. Octavia understood that it was the time for her to play her part, but her previous ways didn’t work now. She didn’t want to take sides anymore, so the only solution she saw in this situation – wait for them to kill each other, or do it by her own hands, freeing them from their miserable life. But she also knew what this task is risky and it would be foolish to relate to poison or other things her brothers are already used to. But she hadn’t enough strength to handle two trained adults at one time. Even one of them would be the end of her.

In this crucial moment is when Octavia discovered the Mace of Power. Actually, the mace wasn't so remarkable – the ancient ceremonial mace of the royal family was always kept in the treasure house and passed through generations of Corden family. In the times when Wonderland was just forming it was believed to be a dreadful instrument of destruction and ait nearly had a life of its own. But then the rulers lost their ability to use the mace's power, it turned from a symbol of true ruler to nothing more than a ceremonial accessory.

Forgotten by time, it waited for a suitable wielder; the one, who could unlock its hidden power and bring back to the glory. It happened, as destined and such owner appeared in the body of young crown-princess.

She was just searching for a place to be alone at, when the mace caught her eye. Due to her heritage she seemed to be one who could speak with ancient weapon and her grim intentions matched perfectly with the desires of the mace. It offered her a deal – its might and the fulfillment of her desires for exchange of life power. Seemed scary but fair, and Octavia reluctantly agreed, planning to take advantage of this. However, it bounded her forever in the future to suck out the lives of her victims. The Mace did not lie; it granted her the ability and strength to kill her brothers, from whom she sucked up the life power through their blood.

Without delay she also overthrew her father, who was too weak to raise a sword against his beloved daughter. To his very last breath he didn’t believe her betrayal.

She took the throne quick and without any real obstacles – people waited for a new ruler and hoped for better future for a long time since Cron’s rule.

Since the beginning of her rule she tried to stabilize the situation in the country of Red Hearts. It was a hard work to raise the country what was falling apart and tired of immense repressions. The young Queen had to make concessions to Land of Tea and Honey on not very fair terms, but it helped to resolve most of the tension. Along with judicial and court reforms she started quite a strict regime, but managed to gather love and support from most of the classes. She also appointed a half-human Jim as her secretary to please the minority of half-humans in the country.

She organized all the jails to relocate in the mountain area and practically uses the criminals as free work power to extract the riches from the earth. The only people who really suffer tortures and end up being in her heart collection are rather spies, political opponents and revolutionaries of any sorts. She doesn’t like to make executions public, but then it has to be done, she’s infamous for ripping still beating hearts of poor criminals.Those who are executed publicly are lucky. The private executions usually include vampirism activities to feed the mace, blood baths and even hearts eating. Using the mace really twists her, but Octavia doesn’t go all mad over it, she has nerves and mind on her own.

Last years of her reign were mainly focused on army reforms, so the poorest could serve the country and earn a living. The Queen’s eye is still mainly turned to inner policy, but no one could ever tell what she’s really planning.
