Description December 2016 - I have made a series of minor corrections all around the map over the last couple weeks, some of which have been pointed out by others and some which I have noticed myself. I hope to keep this map as accurate as possible, so if you find any mistakes please let me know and I will continue to make updates. If you have saved this map before, I encourage you to replace that file with the latest version.

Updated 2/13/17: added the Matochkin strait and Lake Bangweulu
Updated 7/30/17: Fixed the Kuril borders and readjusted Trieste
Updated 4/10/18: added Donetsk, Luhansk, and Lake Ussuri
Updated 10/6/18: Fixed Singapore and the Riau Islands

Great work!
But there is some confusion with unrecognized states and territories.
For example why South Kurils archipelago are Japan (they are almost recognized of all countries as Russian and continue to belong to Russia, even in contrast to the Crimea)?
But it's small mistake, anyway it's good job.

Thank you I have updated the map to fix the Kurils. There were numerous small errors all across the original map I had saved, so I have been very slowly and methodically finding and fixing them. Any help pointing out other errors for me to fix is greatly appreciated. On unrecognized states, I have tried to include all governments, not only ones with universal recognition (so Taiwan, Somaliland, etc.) even though I know how hard that can be to define. I am also trying to favor de facto control over de jure claims, hence Russian Crimea for example.

Thank you too! In this case, should be designated also the unrecognized republics of the DNR and LNR. And Somali is separated now for more than 5 countries... Also Baikonur zone was arended from Kazakhstan for 50 years and de-facto is Russian territory, it has their own russian car codes : ) But these are not so important points
