indeed, haiku not written from one's personal experience are just exercise in form - but not in the essence of haiku. of course what you were doing in your pre-dA times though is much like i what i did. and many carry on with to this day, no wonder since this seems to be the most common spread (mis)understanding of haiku, at least west (and east) of japan. however even more advanced writers many times seem only to exercise in form.
and now to something completely different... is that not a rendition of one of *Nzeman 's foxes i see in the lower right corner?
