how does one do this in a sketch book?

i cant even muster the skill to do simple celtic knots let alone these bad boys

Solid line work and more delicate weaves than I'll ever be able to accomplish. While you're coloring skills in your other pieces are amazing, I also like the simplicity of a good B&W knot.
