Oh, my. I may have missed the ID. Is this Carolina or Black-cap? (We have Black-cap, Mountain, and Rufus-sided.)

I believe it to be a Black-cap!

These are the only fearless birds to come to my feeder lately. And rarely. Not sure why they all
disappeared...although I have some theories. We were treated to a wonderful, large bird yesterday.
I was bringing my egg yokes out for the crows, and I heard a slapping sound in the trees surrounding
our town house. I finally saw what I was sure was a woodpecker, this one the magnificent Pileated.
It's been a while.... Greetings from Richard

They are fearless indeed. I have more photos of them than any other bird because they are so brave. Two years ago, when I had only my point and shoot camera, I had an amazing experience with the magnificent Pileated. There were two of them preforming their mating dance in the trees just above my house. I crept closer and closer, they were so focused on one another that they did not notice me and I got fairly close to them. I took a ton of photos and several videos...it was a magical thing to witness. I wish so badly, now that I have better equipment, that I could even see just one. I hear them all of the time, and never see them, they are so elusive. It was good to hear from you!

THANKS, likewise. Woodpeckers are indeed very private birds.
I call the Chickadees the Hit-n-Run bird...and quite an acrobat.
Sounds like you have plenty of memories stored away, for you to
watch. I just wish my birds would return. I went for a walk at
Staring Lake this afternoon...and saw many, many Robins. They're
here a bit early, but our ground has been uncovered, and the
temps have been moderate. I've seen them as early as January
in other years, but not for long. Robins can fly 250 miles a day,
usually south. The one of the gulls, I call: FORCED RETIREMENT

Two years ago... I saw a robin at the city park while I was there taking pictures with my cousin who is an amazing photographer. Spring was a month away, it was snowing and almost 0 degrees that day...we thought the robin was frozen solid like a statue. As we got closer and closer, we finally noticed it blinking. I can not tell you how miserable this bird was, I felt so bad for it. The robins always appear here right on cue for spring, and that year they were off by many weeks, which resulted in some seriously cold and miserable birds. I did not know that they could fly that many miles a day, very interesting! Also...what a shot of the gulls! That photo is a work of art!

THANKS for the lovely comments on my gulls. That shot was not particularly difficult
to make; there are many people in Canal Park in Duluth, MN...who feed the gulls popped corn.
So, they love the humans. I wouldn't worry unduly about the robins. They probably wouldn't have
made the journey IF they didn't have the promise of some food. And they can get back to warmer
climes if necessary. At least, that's what I've heard. Take care, Casey...

You are welcome! Regardless of the difficulty level...you are responsible for producing that lovely photo. It is beautiful! I have only ever seen a gull once in my life. Obviously, we do not have, or see gulls here in West Virginia. I have heard that they sometimes confuse parking lots for water from their vantage point in the sky. I am not sure if that is the case or not, but last year I when I went to the store, there were gulls circling the parking lot. It was the one time that I did not take my camera with me, and I was devastated!
