Here's my take on the challenge!
I decided to go with some viking vibes on the design~

Hat: The hat shape follows the crest shape, while keeping some pirate style.
Crest: The crest is a black hole, but also looks like yin-yang
Weapon: A mix between a pirate cutlass and nordic swords, the sword have glowing markings

A young lad left his home-world to see the galaxy, during his adventures he joined a group of corsairs. The days were joy and thrills until the ship was attacked by a rival. One by one friends fell to the rival blades, the captain ordered the kid to flee from the ship, tossing him into a black hole. The boy woke up in a different world, he started making some coin by singing at taverns some tales made up from his own adventures. His tales were easily scattered across the world.The young lad was hit with realization, if his tales could reach across the universe, he could catch the rival attention, the one who attacked his comrades with no mercy. And so, he started spreading tales of a corsair captain, defeated by rivals, whose son was still alive, living on his father wealth. Didn't take long until he rival fell for the trap, the lad however, was waiting for his turn, and took his bittersweet revenge. With revenge accomplished, he could finally rest... or so he believed. More pirates chased his trail, the lad became a legend. And so he accepted the fame with a touch of his own tales, "a ship commanded by an army of ghosts those who dare to cross his path will meet a cold end."
