Description
Since I saved a lot of the layers while working on this I thought I might as well put it up.Fairly straightforward process, really - the first colour pass involved two layers set to multiply, just painted over the top of the first one, and after that it's just a matter of actually painting.
The painting is all done with a combination of these three brushes , mostly the second splodgy one, which is nice for soft smooth blending while keeping a sort of 'painterly' look at the same time.
The final piece is 6000px wide, and the whole thing probably took 8 or 9 hours, in PS CS4.
The final is up here -

i'm trying so hard to get away from coloring in lineart, and doing pure painting like this (i mean like i leave the lines over the painting when done) any tips?

i can never tell from tutorials when it's a good time to paint over the lineart, and how to remove it well enough.

That really just depends on the style you're looking for in your finished piece and how tight your linework is to begin with - if you want a more painterly / rendered look or your linework is rough and needs touching up then painting over the top earlier is better, but if you're happy to keep ithings stylised or you're working from very tight lines then you can leave it later; it really just takes practice I guess.

Freaking cool man. It's funny really, I've never seen or heard of where Red Monica was from, but I've always been like "Oh hey, its that Red-head boob lady again, Yay!"

awesome work. wish my comp could handle bigger brush sizes at 6000 pixels wide. does your comp go sluggish at all during those big brushes...

It gets a little bit sluggish, but the brushes I'm working with aren't too heavy (the original sample size is only about 100px) so it's not too bad
Thanks!
