More more! I have this obsession with size...what resolution/size do you paint at?

Smaller than usual on this one actually, about 2100x1500px . . .
Usually I work around 3-4k a long side, or thereabouts, though the last paintings were bigger again since I might like to print them out some time...

Ah, you paint the human figure so fluently It's always a pleasure to see your technique laid out like this. Thanks for sharing!

Oooh-hoo-hoo, the first one with the hollowed-out eyes looks kinda creepy!
It looks like you fused the lineart/sketch/underdrawing with the rest of the painting- or was that on another layer altogether?

Actually I did accidentally start painting on the sketch layer, though that wasn't particularly intentionalβthe linework wasn't strong enough to hold up being painted underneath, though

very nice. do you work with references often, or not really?

I don't draw straight from reference that much (though I probably should more), sometimes during a piece (like this one) I'll look at various reference stuff to help out with certain areas if I get a bit stuck.
thanks

nice to the WIP - very useful though the 1st rough was pretty scary hahaha! Specially the hollow eyes
did you painted the whole piece in one layer?

Mr--Jack In reply to DeadSt [2010-01-01 22:52:39 +0000 UTC]
haha true true
No, it ended up being about 10 layers once the final texture overlays and stuff were added. There's only 3 layers there I think that contain the bulk of the actual detail, though.
