Here're the results from this week'sΒ livestream on my Twitch channel .I've been reading the Dresden Files again, and I felt like drawing some Vampires. I had this image in my head for a few days - pretty happy with how the beastly one came out, but not so much the human version.
I've been wanting to do some more Dresden Files-based art since I first read the series a few years ago, so there might be more of this on the way.

1. Who is that?
And 2. the vampires of the red court are shaped like the ugly south american bats with flabby bellies. If you didn't specify it was Red Court I would've guessed Devil May Cry.
...Also, 3. A lot of them look like Aztec South Americans because their culture is rooted in Mayan mythos.

Actually,Β Harry never outright says that they look exactly like bats. You'll find tends to uses vague terms when describing them ("kinda like a bat" or "bat-like", etc).Β You have to figure that Harry isn't exactly the most reliable narrator at times, and the moments when he's facing off with actual Red Court vamps, he's usually terrifies, so his memory of them isn't exactly brimming with precise details, thus he opts to describing these creatures to us to the very best of his ability. While he may know what these unspeakable horrors look like,Β it's not as if he really has much of a frame of reference to work from. How would you describe a walking nightmares to somebody who has never seen them before?
You'll notice he's the same when he comes across a lot of the monsters he comes up against, too.
Personally, I love this, because I've always felt that a majority of interpretations are too literal.
