Description
SO! Bought a book of Alex Horley's work today, and got thoroughly inspired so here we are.The whole thing took about 6 hours or so, but I must have spent at least as much (and probably a fair bit more) time on the girl as I did on the entire rest of the image, but in the end I'm pretty happy with her (as an aside, the only reason she's wearing clothing is because I've just discovered nipples are almost impossible to paint nicely).
Lots of looking at Frazetta and Bisley while doing this as well, so the influences are no coincidence
(thanks to Wolves in the Throne Room for the title, too, though it's not exactly a difficult one to've come up with separately)
Enjoy!
(here's the base drawing , for those who're interested)

well you're certainly not the only one who's waiting for another video; I don't really use any other tools aside from the brush, for the most part, but hopefully I'll do one again soon.
Thanks!

Too bad about the nipples the title would have been Four Nipples instead
oh btw i kinda noticed that the right arm is a bit twisted, not that it really matters cause as you said it was just a coloring practice
just wanted to mention it haha! overall the piece is awesome

Very nice!
The perception is brilliant aswell. But I must ask, what are they hunting? Because if it's us, I'm out of here!

Great sketch for this as well, you can definitely see Frazetta in the woman, nice and cury. Nice strokes as well, real painterly, not sure how you do it just by looking. Another thing i do like is the suggestion of things like the grass/moss there. I'm so used to using line work to show everythin, glad to see there is different approaches. Also and not to ramble here, but great value control.

Thanks!
I really enjoy it when I can manage to do away with the necessity for linework, it's always fun.

Words cannot express... how much I adore your work. XD
The composition, colors, rendering, light.... it all works together perfectly. The air of mystery from the big one's shrouded face. And all your brushwork is so fluid.
Amazing!

I'm afraid it's not going to happen on this one; I have to save that out at the end using the history states that I'm left with, but if I quit photoshop all that gets lost so
next time!

The composition is so imposing and the muscles are...wow. But that (sorry) is not what I love about this piece - it's the colours!! They're amazing! Earthy, blazing, firey and just plain animalistic cool
Nice work. (:

I'm very happy to hear that actually, 'cause this started out as a colour test

I'm not really sure; look at a lot of reference (and not just while you're drawing), and just do it a lot, I guess
Thanks kindly!
