So here's a whole fuck load of context because this is gonna be needed:

Hell within The Sentinel Verse is a multiversal reality spanning place, it basically connects to every reality and as such there are a lot of demons that exist within its boundaries. The Doom Slayer, someone who originally was a marine sent to deal with an event on Phobos (one of Mars' moons) and got caught up in a demonic invasion, became a legend within Hell itself after managing to destroy some of the most powerful demons that could ever seemingly exist; including the likes of The Icon of Sin, an Ancestral Titan that would quite literally be one of the reasons the world could've been destroyed many many times over. Of course the original world that The Doom Slayer lived in was overrun by demons and as such he resigned himself to living in Hell to fight the demonic hordes that threatened humanity and the multiverse at large.

In Hell, however, there are not just demons that exist on a mindless primal level. Sinners are a type of resident of hell and they are what we see in the likes of Hazbin Hotel; as they are effectively a more evolved version of the demons that we see in the likes of DOOM. In the Sentinel Verse there are many Sinner-based cities and one of these is The Pentagram; which is home to one of Hell's many monarchs, Charlie.

Now Charlie, being the daughter of Lucifer, is technically the princess of hell and has an immense amount of power to her, but even she was not able to foresee the likes of a demonic invasion of the pentagram that led to a huge influx of overpopulation. This then led to the beings of heaven to start their yearly purge early and thus sentenced The Pentagram to destruction considering how overpopulated and war-torn it was...but that was when The Doom Slayer just so happened to show himself. The Slayer was able to not only destroy all the demons that were invading but also fought against the forces of heaven in a battle that lasted over a week and led to the slayer basically littering the streets with bloodied corpses and seemingly not stopping for anything.

After this, one of the Ancestral Titans decided to show itself, Shin Godzilla. The Slayer was able to not only beat back Shin Godzilla but was able to actually wound it to a significant degree to a point where it had to hibernate in order to heal. Why the Ancestral Titan had decided to do this was unknown but it was clear that The Slayer had done a lot to keep the Sinners safe...even if he didn't really seem to give a shit about them.

Enter Alastor. The Radio Demon was already aware of The Slayer, in fact he was surprisingly calm when seeing the slayer rip and tear through various hordes of demons that he was responsible for summoning. Yes, Alastor had in fact orchestrated the entire plot to lure The Slayer out of hiding and to basically try and get rid of him...but of course seeing how he was still alive he decided to work the only magic he knew would effect such a being. A deal was struck after The Slayer and Charlie met with The Radio Demon himself, have the Slayer protect all Sinners within Hell from the demonic hordes and he would be allowed to not only use whatever facilities they had but also call upon the likes of Alastor should he need it...this then led to one of Alastors most devious usages of his magic yet.

When the deal was struck, he tied the Slayer's life force to Charlies own. Meaning that should the princess of hell be killed, the Slayer would die along with her. In this sick game that Alastor was playing, he knew that he could easily kill off the Slayer without any second thought...but why he hasn't done so already is unknown as well. Perhaps he has a much greater plan at play?
