Description Here's an obscure one.

Daimajin and Pulgasari are both creatures from lesser known daikaiju films (giant-monster-movies). The Daimajin trilogy of films was made in the 1960s by the same studio that would make Gamera only a few years later. Pulgasari, on the other hand, is a 1985 North Korean film produced by none other than the late Kim Jong Il. The film has a fascinating history if you decide to seek it out.

I've seen both films, and was immediately struck by how similar the two films are. Pulgasari was clearly influenced by Daimajin, as well as the recently revived Godzilla franchise, but the similarities were still interesting. Both are set in feudal Asia, and feature a peasant uprising against a tyrannical overlord with the aid of a not-so-benevolent giant monster benefactor. Daimajin is the better of the two as far as film quality goes, but Pulgasari's country of origin as well as the history of its production make it a worth exploring.

Given the similarities between the two properties, I thought it would be interesting to have a cross-over of the two (I've been doing a lot of cross-overs...haven't I?) I gave the background a distinctly red tint in order to help the two creatures pop more. I had intended to also have some samurai in the bottom left corner, but decided against it when it diminished the monster's apparent scale.

Overall, it's simple but I like it.
