Here's my end of a long awaited art trade with He did a 3D render of my sexy chromed out super cyborg athlete fighter extraordinaire Nicole "Diamond" Vetter [link] He requested to see his character made in the image of his real life wife, Loxy Brown. Here she is, and it looks like she means business with that sword!As for the actual drawing...I had a double whammy of help with the ref. pic. The pose originally came from a real life photo ref, however super dope artist had also done a tutorial of the same pose in the book where I found the pose (Women and Girls by Buddy Scalera) I tried to rely more on the real life pose rather than Josh Howard's example, as not to bite Josh's style....I LOVE his artwork, but I'm not trying to step on the guy's toes! However, I would be lying if I said that I didn't barrow a few things from the way that he recaptured the pose. I do like how this came out for the most part...her neck's a bit long and that was the first time I've ever tried to attempt a hairstyle like Loxy's, but for the most part it looks fine.

Yeah, me too. I need to start drawing more of my gals like this...as I like this look over the bulky muscle as well. Now that I'm getting a better understanding of muscle anatomy, hopefully I can start implementing that more into my pics!

Speaking of Jada P-S...I haven't seen the actual show, but I've seen the commercials for her new show where she's a nurse/doctor and she looks better to me now than she did when she was younger!

Thank you Patrick! Yeah, that's definitely the first time that I've ever attempted a hairstyle like that! But I'm down for trying new things and all and I think that it came out pretty good for the most part!

Thanks Mike! Yeah...I amaze myself on just how much I've improved over the past 6-7 months!
As for the shading...you've missed a lot of my WIP postings since the beginning of the year. It finally hit me back in late December to include shading on all of my work! Since then, I can't figure out why I never tried to do it consistently over the years! It's added much needed depth to my previously bland and flat drawings.
And with this picture, the shading didn't come out great b/c of my crappy scanner. Hopefully I can do it some justice when I go to color it!

No hurry man... We all got lives.
But I really dig the style. Since I do 3D I really can't get a "Comic Book" style out of my art because everything on the character is to a preset proportion. So having one of my OC's in a cool and different style than I can produce is really kick ass.

I understand about the 3D renders verses drawings. I see that you're kinda stuck and limited at times with rendering, but with drawing...you can pretty much do whatever your imagination and your hand is capable of doing! And it's always really cool to see other folk's take on your character...of course you know how you have your character fleshed out in your own mind, but it's really cool to see someone else's interpretation of your OC!
I'm glad that you like it so far...I think that it will really be dope once I throw some color on her!
