During the early days of the First Convergence War, most residents of New Denver preferred to stay indoors at night, as the Convergence conducted wide-ranging abduction operations in the city.

Ronda, however, would often go up on the roof of her apartment, half-hoping to be chosen by the weird invaders. She had a pretty serious masochistic streak, which had previously expressed itself when she had gotten full-body Edenite conversion surgery.

At the time, well before the founding of Silvernote Hollow, most of the Edenites on New Promise still lived on the northern continent, and New Denver was their unofficial capitol. A number of Ronda's compatriots also chose to "volunteer" in this way out of a common sense of curiosity about what happened during such events, the possibility of striking back somehow against the Convergence, and to a lesser extent, some shared excitement of undergoing the ordeal of such an encounter. Many carried recording devices with them to gather intelligence on the Convergence, and Ronda was one of the first successful "Abduction Spies".
