One part nostalgia, three parts heartbreak. more than fifteen years after this movie made my childhood I discovered there was an origin story for mewtwo I knew nothing about. In just ten minutes I was urged to question the value of life, what it means to live, the difference between the souls of "pokemon" and human, and whether or not mewtwo is either one of those things. and in the end, mewtwo watched his only family die, his world literally crumble away, and was abandoned to deep darkness for years until his second awakening. I cried... Hard.
