There is an awful moment you experience when you grow up a gamer, and it will haunt you; you flash back to it every time a friend is in danger, you may have even had nightmares about it: The first love you couldn't save. For some it was Aerith (FFVII), for others it may have been Katie (GTAIV), For me, It was Iris (MegamanX4). Starting with her apologetic, mournful battle cry "Forgive me Zero!", and watching her battle armor explode at the end, knowing I was the one who murdered her, My only friend. And not just that, I started the whole thing. I killed her "maverick" brother despite her numerous pleas to show mercy, I drove her to madness. Then came this: www.youtube.com/watch?v=c42s2x…I put the game down to cry for about a week before I finally came back to finish off Sigma, Where I heard him taunt me with "Iris is waiting!"... I killed him and I killed him hard.

The demise of IRis i admit, i had no way to access the Ps era megaman games, buit the internet gave me a sight....it was this moment tough, what made me hesistant of playing the game..or at least as Zero.......even to this day, i resent Sigma for the damage he had done, as if Ruining Doppler, Midi or Techno wasnt bad enough he has the nerve of taunting with this...

Disney Movies get more emotional than this though. Remember what happened to Bambi's Mother, or Mufasa?

I'll have you know I saw Iris being turned into a monster and Zero having to kill her, and I only cried for 20 minutes!

In all seriousness now, I do admit that scene stabbed me so hard in the feels. I felt that would be a good way to describe it.
In fact, I'm one of the people who didn't cry at stuff like Bambi's Mother's death, or any of the scenes in Titanic, or Forrest Gump's mother's death. But what happened to Iris with Zero, oh god that brought me to tears for so long. And that's saying something!
Also, since you mentioned others in this (like Aerith's death, oh my that was so depressing). I'd like to mention some other scenes in video games that made me more sad than I could ever think. These would also go great along the list, they were about as sad as what happened to Iris, if not even more.
Maria's death in Sonic
Oh my god, I can't begin to tell you how much that had me a nervous wreck for more than a week! It was so depressing, but it is one of the reasons why I still think Sonic is awesome!
Well, basically, if you haven't seen it. The Guardian Units of Nations Army raided the ARK Colony, where Shadow and Maria spent most of their lives, capturing or killing any of the researchers (even the innocent ones), who they could find, and claiming the colony for themselves, mostly due to what they heard was happening there. Then at one part, Maria gets Gunned Down in front of Shadow by the soldiers, his only friend dies in front of him. And this is the last thing Shadow sees before he was put into stasis and sent to Earth.
Later on, when he was reawakened by Eggman, his faint memories of how the soldiers killed Maria in cold blood like that is what drove him over the edge to do evil stuff and want to wipe out humanity. In fact, he mainly sided with Eggman out of the fact that he is a descendent of his creator, and that he thought that Eggman's tech and such would allow him to get closer to doing just that.
That was just so sad for me in Sonic.
NU-13's story arc in Blazblue
NU-13 is one of my fav Blazblue characters, and she really made me cry. She was originally an innocent girl, who was turned into a type of Cyborg called a "Murakamo Unit" as to be a defender of the Gate. She highly admired this great warrior (and one of the prominent characters in it), Ragna the Bloodedge. In fact, her cyborg augmentations were powered by a shard of the Azure Grimoire, a piece of the same Power Crystal that gave Ragna some of his enhancements.
NU-13 went to great lengths to help Ragna and show how much she admires him, even disobeying orders from her new master to do so. In the end, NU-13 ended up losing her own life in order to save Ragna. Despite her sacrifice though, Ragna still didn't love NU-13 back, poor thing.
Then later on in the later installments of the series, a Mad Scientist named Dr. Kokonoe found NU-13's corpse, and utilizing state of the art cybernetics and life-support systems, reanimated and upgraded NU-13 into the new Cyborg, LAMBDA-11. Also as a part of her modifications, Dr. Kokonoe Mind-Wiped her too, since she thought her feelings towards Ragna and her memories of her past was what was holding her back from being one of the greatest living weapons ever. Therefore reducing the poor NU-13 (or LAMBDA-11 now), into an emotionless killing machine that only serves her new master, and would even attack Ragna should she be ordered to!
I never thought Blazblue could be that saddening until then.

Woah. I never put too much stock into fighting games while I was looking for a good story to play through, but holy shit, Blazblue sounds like a whole different monster.
I think the possibly saddest moment I've experienced altogether in gaming was from Kingdom Hearts 356/2 days. I already had this lingering feeling of sadness from Roxas's character after how he was sacrificed in the beginning of KH2 just after I really started to like him. Then the whole event with Xion; she played Roxas and had him fight and kill her so he could continue to exist, (Que a death cut-scene that indeed jerked my tears) and then Roxas stages one final rebellion against the organization in memory of Xion, except because of the nature of her existence, as roxas is fighting his memory of her starts to forcefully fade. Those flashbacks where it became harder and harder to see Xion's smile, until she was finally just gone. Nothing but an empty space on the tower where she was sitting. All this happening WHILE I was fighting final boss. Roxas; doomed to a future where his only purpose is to be sacrificed for the main character, was not only was tricked into killing his best fiend, but even lost the memories of her existence to the point where there's no proof she was ever there, just the sadness of losing her.
I'm pretty sure Xion's "existence-less" plight is just a cop-out from the writers to make sure the overall story was canon, but it still stuck with me.

Same here. Especially how Zero is then like "WHAT AM I FIGHTING FOR," and how Reaper Sigma even rubs it in harder with his quote of "Iris is waiting for you, Zero!"
