Description Athens “Black Dragon” Runner
- Age: 22
- Height: 6’ 5”
- Class: Gentleman

- History: Athens was born and raised in the desert region of Orre, a land known for its rampant criminal activity and extremely dedicated and tough trainers. He attended an above average Trainer’s School outside of Phenac City, his hometown, where he picked up various battling and coordinating strategies. At the age of 17, had managed to avoid becoming swept up in the Cipher/Snaggem outlet and stayed off of the streets, and had proven to be a dedicated, talented coordinator. Not soon after, the head of the school brutally attacked Athens, stealing the teenager’s Grovyle. Athens was left for dead at the hands of a Poisonpowder attack.

Recovering, Athens began a year-long hunt for his missing Grovyle, eventually finding him in The Under’s pit fighting circuit, evolved into a Sceptile. In a fit of rage, Athens freed many of the captive Pokémon with his Cherubi and Remoraid, and set the underground wing ablaze. Athens then ran away from home that night, collecting only the bare essentials, and hopping the next boat out.

In the following three years, Athens adopted his stage persona and gentlemanly habits, coming to grips and receiving treatment for his PTSD, became a judge at the IPL, and earned quite the credit in the coordinating field. Upon hearing of the Black Tourney, Athens jumped at the case.

The horrific nightmare of a tournament eventually left the man with two scars, one less kidney, and the ire of his boss for nearly getting killed off duty. Having gained a number of relationships with the coordinators and trainers of the tournament, including ex-Kanto champion Sandy Gano and rising coordinating star Aka Kanda, Athens eventually climbed the ranks in the IPL to admin, where he continues to judge and battle, while actively participate in the Hearthome Super Contests when able.

- Personality: Athens comes off as a very polite, collected, intelligent gentleman. Very wise for his age and highly intelligent, Athens does his best to keep situations in some level of control and calm, and tries to be as helpful and generous as possible. However, he can come off as aloof and distant, and has difficulty building deeper relationships with people. He has shown a stubborn and determined attitude when he sets his mind on something, and does not give up easily.

He suffers from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), which directly ties into his difficulty in building said relationships. He has vivid nightmares at night, and has difficulty looking at himself in a mirror without his mask or a pair of sunglasses. Should he fail to protect someone, he will have flashbacks to the time his Grovyle was taken from him, and will enact in a violent outburst. He avoids travelling to Orre as best as he can, and if he does go home, he will keep the trip to a minimum. He is working with his Cherrim to maintain some form of treatment and counseling.

It should be noted that Athens is capable of understanding Pokémon language, and is capable of speaking it if the need arises. It has been hypothesized that it is a psychic skill he has developed, due to some distant ancestor being a psychic trainer. Athens also “lucked out” in the genetics department and is an albino, meaning his skin, eyes, and hair do not produce melanin, and are thus pale and white (or silver, in the case of his eyes). He suffers extreme photosensitivity, and must wear either sunglasses or his mask in bright light situations.

- Battle Strategy: Being dominantly a coordinator, Athens has a heavy reliance on making moves and attacks appear as visually pleasing as possible. He often uses his coordinating tricks to keep his opponent off guard, and will call for appeal or contest combos to tackle opponents. He will look for the opponent’s strategy and play them until the key point, then screw their pattern up at the last minute. Because of his PTSD, he will become anxious when poison type moves are used, and will call for strictly evasive measures until the attacks are over.

Brian
- Sceptile (Grass), Dawn Stone(around neck), Overgrow
- Leaf Blade, Aerial Ace, Thunderpunch, Detect + Earthquake/Razor Wind/Brick Break
- Athens’ first Pokémon, received as Treecko. Far older than he acts, he’s the Pokémon equivalent of a 65-year-old. He isn’t the smartest of all monsters, but he is very experienced and wise. Fights with physical gusto and has been known to use variations of martial arts moves to fight.
- Scars: Brian has a multitude of scars, all proud reminders of things he has survived. He has one he sports over his left eye, one cross-shaped "split" scar on his right shoulder/bicep, a cutting scar across the top of his right shoulder (usually covered by scarf), a blackflame tattoo around each bicep, many, many smaller cut scars on forearms (usually covered by bracers), boot bracers to hold up older legs in battle. His back is pretty much all scar tissue, due to a particularly nasty point-blank Flamethrower attack, and it spreads around his back and his thighs to imitate stripes. Brian does not have the Sceptile Seed Pods as a result, limiting his movepool somewhat (he cannot use Synthesis, Absorb, Mega Drain, Giga Drain, and Energy Ball unassisted). He hides this back scarring with his scarf.

Faye
- Cherrim (Grass), Sun Stone (around neck), Flower Gift
- Sunny Day, Solarbeam, Weather Ball, Hidden Power (Flying) + Aromatherapy/Magical Leaf
- Flamboyantly, flamingly gay, and proud of it. Very intelligent and resourceful, but acts on a whim and often has his extremely extroverted and dominant personality shine too much. Rash nature indeed, in battle he supports with high-powered special attacks or support techniques, like aromatherapy and sunny day. Strong sense of responsibility and nurture towards others, and has a fatherly disposition toward Aeneas. Boys, he is single and looking

Moises
- Carnivine (Grass), No Item, Levitate
- Hidden Power (fire), Power Whip, Crunch, Grass Knot + Grass Tornado/Swallow/Growth
- Moises is larger than normal Caarnivine (being about 6 feet tall as opposed to 4). Moises is a bit of a pyromaniac, and loves his Hidden Power attack. He acts a bit like a dragon, reclusive and aloof when he wants to be, but can easily mix it up on the battlefield when necessary and can perform mighty fine on the stage, taking on draconian imagery and roles. Works best independently, but has started to take a liking to Henson and Aeneas.

Henson
- Abomasnow (Grass/Ice), Nevermeltice (hidden under furstuff), Snow Warning
- Blizzard, Water Pulse, Sheer Cold, Wood Hammer + Swords Dance/Ice Shard
- Henson is a very large, confident, and quiet Abomasnow. He is a gentle giant outside of battle, often seen playing games with younger Pokémon and being all around useful. In battle he acts as a knight of legends bygone and uses his ice attacks in a cryokinetic manner.

Aeneas
- Reunclius (Psychic), No Item, Magic Guard
- Psyshock, Dizzy Punch, Energy Ball, Thunder + Focus Blast/Telekinesis
- Perhaps the baby of the team, Aeneas is very naive and doesn’t always know what is going on around him. He is often smiling or chuckling to himself, excited to go places and see new things. One of the fruits of Athens’ trip to Unova, he is powerful, but has room for growth. Uses his techniques in mass combination, overwhelming his targets with an endless barrage of attacks to manipulate their positions and attacks.

Cyrano
- Marowak (Ground), Focus Band (around waist), Lightningrod
- Stone Edge, Rock Tomb, Bonemarang, Hidden Power (Grass) + Thunderpunch/Bone Rush
- Cyrano has been picked up during a trip to Unova. He was beaten and captured easily because he had only recently evolved, but his bonefighting skill was noted by Athens to be interesting. Cyrano has had some training and practice from Athens, and wields his bone in a backhanded sword fashion. He looks up to Brian and Henson, and is constantly trying his best. He is more suited for battles than he is contests, but he is eager to try for both.

Does Athens keep any of his Pokemon out of their balls regularly?

In general, the smallest or floatiest members stay out, so in this case it's Cherrim and Reunclius. The rest are usually too big for palling about |D
