Description Apart from the "cold open" this is the REAL opening spread for the third chapter of my comic 6-Commando. [link]

This was the most fun I had drawing a set of pages since I started this comic. Sure, it's bleak and depressing, but I really think I managed to keep true to my original concept (the Saturday Morning Adventure Cartoon Gone Bad) while turning the feel in a much darker and heavier direction. This is the aftermath of an atomic war. And granted, since we haven't had one yet (thank God) we don't really know what it would be like, but this is my approximation, based in part on a personal experience I had with the aftermath of a wildfire in central Florida.

Also it gave me a chance to use UNA Heavy Battlesuits, which I really like, but which are not convincing enough as actual combat suits for me to use them in the action sequences. At least, I haven't figured out how to do that yet. Anyhow, they're good in high-radiation zones, which was as good an excuse as any to suit up some of my United Nations troops and send them into the Rad Zone. And by the way, I don't know if you know how much ionizing radiation 410 centigrays is, but trust me, it's a lot.

By the way, this is my edited version: I posted the original, then noticed a major perspective error that I have since corrected. So there.

Thanks so much for the words of encouragement! These days, though, you pretty much have to make a job for yourself in comics - I've gotten enough rejection letters to wallpaper my john! But hey, if I was doing it for any other reason but the love of it, it'd just be another job!

Thanks, man! I've been following your stuff for a while and it's really pretty awesome, so I take your compliment as very high praise! It's taken me a while to "find my way" with this comic - some of the early pages, most of them in fact, seem pretty weak to me, by comparison to what I feel capable of now, but that's what progress is all about, I guess!

That is an excellent piece of work!

I see it is the beginning of chapter 3......might chapters 1 and 2 be available to read?

And thanks, by the way - I was really happy with this spread, especially once I fixed the mistakes I'd made! And the best way to follow 6-Commando is via my website, since I update there much more frequently, and only put full spreads on DA, whereas there's a page a week over there.

Already read what you've done so far. Good work! Your layout is really good too. I have it bookmarked so I can follow along.

Oh, and I also go to much greater lengths to answer posts at my site ([link] ), since I check that site daily, and this one only like once a week or so.
