AIT3 Armored Personnel Carrier

Lore: The AIT3 (Armored Infantry Transport) is one of the oldest vehicles still in use by the United Colonial Military; it was originally deployed during the first Border Wars and has seen use in every conflict since then. Its longevity is due in part to its reliability, versatility, and the ease at which it can be upgraded for modernization and combat specific roles. The forward cabin has seating for the driver and weapons/communications officer, while the heavily armored troop bay has seating for up to six passengers. The AIT3 is designed with a sloping V-shaped undercarriage to reduce damage from mines and other explosives; it is fully NBC protected and can easily be airdropped and retrieved by several different carryalls. A new upgrade kit includes a deployable floatation screen and concealed propellers allowing it to be used for amphibious operations.

There are numerous variations in use; the AIT3-M is equipped with a remote weapon station and armed with four ‘Mamushi’ anti-armor/anti-air missiles, the RWS is equipped with LANDSCAN and SKYDOPPLER radar suites with a 70 kilometer range. The AIT3-LS is a medevac version, while unarmed it is designed to quickly retrieve wounded soldiers and provide transport for them and combat medics. The AIT3-G is armed with a G-76 35mm BALLISTA cannon for infantry support, and uses a ‘sideswipe’ sound tracking hardware suite for anti-sniper applications. Perhaps the most unique variation is the AIT3-EW; it sacrifices its troop bay for a shielded electrical impulse generator that is linked to a Controlled Electromagnetic Pulse Discharge Disc (CEMPDD) mounted on top of the APC, when fully charged it can release a devastating electromagnetic pulse with a range of 10 kilometers, effectively shutting down all unshielded electrical devices within its range.
