All over the world there occurs this mytheme of the world-bearing turtle.

"The popular rendition of the World Turtle supporting one or several World Elephants is recorded in 1599 in a letter by Emanual de Veiga .[4] Wilhelm von Humboldt suggested that the idea of a world-elephant was due to a confusion, caused by the Sanskrit noun Nāga having the dual meaning of "serpent" and "elephant" (named for its serpent-like trunk), thus representing a corrupted account of the world-serpent." I think, the concept of a world-serpent makes more sense than elephants. Take the northern mythology: there is the myth of the midgard serpent. It surrounds the earth and grasps its own tail. When it releases said tail, Ragnarök will begin.

Which makes sense! The serpent acts as a type of foundation for the world on the turtle´s back. Without it (e.g. when the serpent releases its tail), the world would lose balance quickly, right?

Inspiration for this artwork came from an inadverently created filter-bubble. For a time all my recommendations on youtube were of some flat-earth /-debunking videos. While the earth-models of those flat-earthers are quite ridiculous, they are really inspiring (in a not-scientific way).
