Yes, i like the shading and rendering, too 
This technique with ink, pencils and pastelpen i recently use is especially useful and fun for drawing skulls and bones

I'm still trying to improve on colours, the only decent shading I get is from watercolour pencils. Apart from those, I'm sticking with black and white xD
I recently tried some pencils lately, maybe I'll get the hang of it someday !
