Description
I'm looking for some feedback for a Power Girl outfit. What you think about this one ? Texture ok, or you want something else ? Latex ? Rubber ? Leather ?. Reflective materials such as latex and rubber do tend to become extremely shiny in bright light (sunlight) though. Also you prefer the New 52 version of the gloves, belt (red or blue ?) and cape, or the classic ones ?Let me know what you think
Update: Sample Latex: mrbunnyart.com/uploads/powergiβ¦

I am usually a fan of the latex whenever possible...but I really like these textures you do as well...it reminds me of your batgirl comic...really liked the texture of her outfit

After comparing all versions, i would have to agree with Dangerguy01 and say that the latex greyed-down version looks the best. Textured is okay but not suitable for this outfit.

Added some more grey than in the last sample, and it looks pretty respectable, so I'll probably go with that.

The smoother versions definitely look better than the "textured" one (personally, I find that superhero costumes that actually look better in "textured" materials are few and far between - the outfit poor Henry Cavill has to wear in Man of Steel looks like it should be lying on the bottom of a senior citizen's bathtub to keep them from slipping in the shower). I do agree, though, that it shouldn't necessarily be too shiny. I never got the impression Power Girl's costume was made out of anything especially reflective or slick. Honestly, it looks like it should be Spandex or Lycra (are those the same thing?) which can be a bit shiny, but not "glossy" like latex can be. Really, the only reasons they don't use Spandex in superhero movies are that in real life it doesn't look good on anyone who isn't built like a fitness model and that people running around in Spandex in public doesn't look "gritty" enough for "realistic" takes on characters, but digital art isn't real life and Power Girl IS built like a fitness model, and if someone told PG she doesn't look gritty enough to be taken seriously, she'd probably just drag them over 100 yards of dirt road and ask "that gritty enough for you?"

I tend to prefer latex outfits (ie a bit shiny) myself. It's just a little bit of a challenge with white, because it reflects so much stronger than most other colors, so it easily becomes extreme in sunlight environments. But I think I worked it out by darkening the white a little bit. Maybe we'll have a finished product tomorrow. I need to sort out the character herself as well

The shine of the outfit is a little intense, I think it might make it look too rubbery. Gotta find that fine line, too much shine gives it that sleazy halloween costume feel, but too matte makes it look like half-hearted cosplay.
For the accessories I've personally always thought the proper belt, the blue with the gold buckle, was a better look, and I personally favor the shorter cape with the gold braiding. What can I say, I'm a stickler for classics.

Nice costume but I think the "Sample Latex" would look better but if you can keep the variety of colors for the accessories as aboveΒ as well.

I'd like to get that and play with it as well. Looks good. Though I find just using the cat suit gets a tighter fit.

Could potentially do it as a 2nd skin, but I find that it doesn't look as good in the chest region when overdialing the breasts on V4. Think I figured out the latex texture though

That's why I use magnets for body shaping instead of the dials. A bit slower but I can fit nearly any clothes.

I use magnets for custom stuff mostly, sometimes in combination with the morph tool, and usually turn them into dials for easier use later. My only annoyance atm is the chest region, and the lack of a good spandex morph to fix the breast shrink wrap easier. Might have to take the time to make one myself eventually. I'd do Power Girl as a 2nd skin if it wasn't for the chest issue though.

Magnets seem to slow things down a bit especially when the whole body is shaped with them. But they provide the closest shaping of clothing. Much closer than morphs.

Maybe after Patriotica vs The Shadow Syndicate, which at the current progress will likely be 5-600 pages The intro alone is 90 pages. I might post the intro during the holidays. We'll see

What's the deal with the belt color anyways ? I'm not all that familiar with Power Girl lore. The images I've seen are close to 50-50 red vs blue on the belt.

Most of the time is red, more classic color, but blue is also acceptable.

I liked the greyed-down latex version best. PG is a very sexy character, I think it's best if her costume looks as "painted on" as possible. Too much texture gets in the way, if ya know what I mean...

I like shiny
Terry does really good work, but sometimes the textures can be a little too bright.
Too much shine can be bad, but if that happens dial down the reflection value.

I always use custom texturing. Can tone it down a bit by making the white a little more grey: mrbunnyart.com/uploads/powergiβ¦

yeah, that's a little too much shine, in the wrong lighting it's not going to look right.
I would dial back the reflection or use a different color to reflect than bright white. Β
Just my opinion, some peeps might like really bright white.
