We miss our dear Peyton very much still, but since she is no longer with us, we thought we could give a new animal in need of a home a place to live. This is Duke, who we adopted last night. He is an Australian Shepard/ Lab mix with one brown eye and one blue eye. It's been quite a while since we've had a "puppy" in the house.Related content

I m not a fan of labs but the Australian Shepard totally makes up for that they are good dogs smart

We picked him for the blue eye and the brown eye. I'm hoping the bit of mutt mix makes him a little hardier, they say that always helps. We have a full blood aussie as well, and we have to watch her, she has allergies sometimes.

Awwww! He's so sweet! I see what you mean about those maple seeds. Wow. I thought it was beauty bark mixed in with grass at first. Did you name him Duke or did he come with a name? He's so pretty. How big will he get?

Yeah we have them everywhere, I'll have to weed my garden of maple trees! We named him last night, something cowboyish, so we came up with Duke (John Wayne reference). I think he will get medium large, maybe 60 lbs or so...we'll have to see on that one.

I like it. There is a SciFi show called "Haven". One of the main characters is named Duke. He's kinda mischievous. Are those your jeans again?

It's a totally different pair. Different shade of blue WAY different visual texture. Just wondering if those belonged to you. I like how the bright blue of the jeans brings out the blue of the Duke's one blue eye. Do they change? Will his eyes change colors as he gets older? I've never had a puppy, just cats.

I think he should keep his blue eye with age. It is kind of a rarity though, only a few breeds that have that color, most just have dark brown eyes.
