Description
This poor snail looked like a man lost in a desert, it was crawling along my driveway with the sun beating down on top of it, heading for the shade of the hedge on the other side. It looked so helpless, slowly dying out, and although i may be imagining it seemed to try to move even faster when my cat started to paw at it.After I took the photo I moved it to a nice shady patch with some lovely leaves.
I'm nice like that.

You know in a lot of films, when they show long, straight american roads in the desert? And then for some reason the camera goes in front of a car, and it goes all hazy and the car is reflected in the road?
This reminds me of that, especially where the background becomed blurred. Its good. The angle of the picture puts us above the snail, making it's journey seem more arduous. And yet we are still close and can see all the details. It is a well thought out and executed picture.

I love it - so full of character and it conjured up exactly the same image in my mind as the one you narrated - I think it's something to do with the crisp shadow and the sharpness of the lighting. The green in the top corner just balances the barren colouring of the rest of the image nicely.
