The admins have actually been talking about this! They are looking into some different ways to handle sales so grems will be available to a wider audience and won't get snatched up nearly as quickly! There is actually a journal up on mrgrembles page about it. No need to get discouraged c:

Eh discouragement is always going to be there because I wouldn't even be able to afford a MYO ($35USD = $50AUD) 

But yeah, I commented on it and made the suggestion (as did a few others) of adding more MYO slots and making most for non-owners so they can at least get a Grem, but yeah, I'm never going to be able to get my hands on one so I'm just gonna turn away and not look back.

Ah gosh even without myos there's always dta and raffles ( I think there is one happening right now actually) and heck gremble might even do another myo contest. Up till last year I had been trying to nab grab a grem ( it's been like 4 years???) it just takes patience and a little luck is all.

Oh jeez I hope I never get too obsessed I spend 4 years chasing a cs (no offence).

I don't want to just be following the group 24/7, especially since I'm in a timezone that's 12 hours ahead of most people (Americans). And if you're saying it takes over a year It just doesn't seem worth it imho. I might get hate for this but idc, it just doesn't seem worth it to obsess over something like this, I get it's popular but oh well, I guess dA is just full of rich people who watch the group like an eagle. 

I'm glad you got a grem at least, you probably battled with several users just to get your hands on it lol.

Hah well part of it is because I've been following grembles art in general for that long XD grems were just part of the package

id advise you read this journal here
just an heads up about future auctions (update)we've come to a conclusion that we will be trying a variety of different auction methods (no ab one day, non owners for 48 hours the next, etc. ) to see what will happen and to keep things circulated around in order to provide variety for everyone possible! keep in mind that we cannot make everyone happy, but we will do our best to find a comfy medium for everyone! thank you all for your suggestions, all your opinions are important to us!
We're in the midst of working out a different method for hosting our auctions. Though we would like to raise the price in order to slow down the amount of people that ab within minutes (which is great, im not complaining!) , we just feel as if it wouldnt solve the bidding dilemma.
So in the future, we will be trying different auctioning techniques to see how well they go! We want people to feel comfortable in trying to bid for grems, so we'll do our best to find a perfect solution for auctions in the future.
Auctioning ideas so far:

i don't mean to butt in, but i have a few worries abt what would happen if grem auctions were designed to be open longer- one of the most attractive things about grems are their pricing, i know 200-250 seems HUGE to some but for such a quality CS the price is really really affordable while still being profitable for the creators. 

idk, im worried that a solution to keep auctions around for longer would be to raise the pricing (i can't really think of another way to make things more encouraging, so it's not like i blame anyone for making that call) and that makes things discouraging in many other ways

then again it is your species densy and you can do what you like with them, im not one to whine about pricing bc i think HQ productions are worth the tag

also to clarify i don't mean upping to 300-400 just like 750+ or something, that might ALSO get people saying auctions are discouraging

(one idea i have is maybe posting the grems but making ppl wait 30 min-1 hr to bid but that may provoke sniping...)

I definitely agree about the pricing I think grems are really well priced for balance. 

Delaying bids would at least help make sure people actually look at the designs before grabing them, but other than that it wouldn't change much and would probably be pretty much pointless otherwise. When bidding opened they would all be gone just as fast though thats the nature of the beast *shrugs* delaying probbly isn't an optimal option. And I agree with Micro, It's hard to find a happy balance I hope gremble and the others are able to find the best possible option. <3

you have a point. They'd start becoming something more akin to Mantibabs, which are hella expensive and very hard or near impossible to obtain. 

I think one of the beauties of Grems is that they're expensive, but affordable for most people which makes them very attractive to the common consumer. It also helps when there are multiple people creating Adoption batches like Kasmut, Densy, and Salisburies (along with others).

yeah, the system just works so well, or as well as it can given its confines. their price tag is a great balance of appropriate for the creator/affordable for the consumer. like, i have nothing against mantibabs and communities like those but shit i don't think the vast majority of the grem community could break into such expensive, expensive circles.

i have nothing against densy/sal/kas/whomever wanting to raise the prices somewhat bc they deserve compensation but if they took away the AB... or made it really high, the same people would be buying grems auction after auction, which would be frustrating in its own right

urgh idk, it's a debacle because i don't wanna whine and be like "awwww too expensive" bc creators deserve compensation for a HQ species but... idk man when i look at some other CS communities we're way more affordable and accesible and i don't want that to change, it'd really change my perception of the community

I do agree with you, I actually had this conversation with PrincePaladin a few times last week. The price is perfect. It's comfortable, it doesn't break bank (too badly). I do feel bad for people who didn't get to the auction fast enough, because man they go fast. I sympathize with Densy and the rest. They're stuck in a predicament of pleasing their customer base, but where one way will make people happy, that same way will upset others. ;u; they're stuck between a rock and a hardplace. I hope whatever solution comes out of this, that it makes everyone happy! <3

I've been thinking about it for awhile actually and the only real practical idea I can think of is MYO's? / myo events unfortunately? 

As an artist I can completely understand not wanting to overwhelm yourself designing piles of any given closed species. You guys are artists not machines made to churn out Grems and i'm sure you all have your own projects you want to work on outside of grems as well! So I don't by any means expect constant auctions or anything to that effect! though It's kind of crazy how in-demand grems are hmm... 

I guess the biggest issues I see are that the designs are all gone in under a minute, usually even less than 30 seconds. I honestly wonder if people even have a chance to analyze the designs or if they just grab them and trade if they don't like them? I see a lot of recently purchased grems almost imidately go up for trade and it makes me sad. Though I'm not sure how to fix that other than removing AB's but that could get kinda crazy so thats a bit ot a tough one / artist call? Though honestly I think the most discouraging things are that a lot of the people who AB the auctions already have grems. There are more than a few people who have 5-7+ grems and want more (not that I blame them) but... It's really discouraging. There is a lot of "grem hoarding" for lack of beter words, and most people only trade grems for other grems so they are almost impossible to get ahold of in any way shape and form. Idk really it's all artists calls but it sucks that some people have 7+ grems while others, even if they have the money can't even get one. I've been trying for well over a month and a half and havn't even gotten close. I know closed species are a "luxury item" but it's pretty crazy how you sort of... can't get a grem unless you already own one? Myo's are really about the only thing I can think of that wouldn't get too rediculous? Those are my thoughts any way, hopefully they help at least a little. And I hope i'm not a downer by any means, I don't mean to be, i'm just really genuinely surprised at how dificult it is to snag one of these cuties.
