===========================================================================

Legend:

Physical=
These mutations are able to be determined before birth from specific chemical changes in their DNA properties.

Mind= A mutation that cannot be monitored through any kind of scientific means, they are unpredictable are are often considered highly dangerous.

List of mutations

Cherub Mutation

This mutation is a form of Cutaneous Asthenia, a result of hyper-elasticity in a grem’s skin. This extra skin causes wing-like appendages to protrude from the back, which are able to grow fur to keep warm, giving off a cherub-like appearance. They present in various shapes, sizes, and fur lengths, and in some cases even contain bone and muscle structure, enabling them to “flap”. Though useless for flight, the cherub mutation makes up for a lack of practicality with a unique look that is aesthetically pleasing to the eye.

Horn Mutation

Present from birth, horns are a rare and mostly safe mutation that usually present as hardened protrusions on the head area, though they sometimes can be found on the tail as well. Varying greatly from grem to grem, they can range from a single simple horn to an enormous pair of antlers. Once a grem has reached maturity, their horns will stop growing. If broken, horns will normally grow back to their original size and shape over time.

Gold Fleck Mutation

Gold fleck is a vanity mutation used to make your grem glisten and gleam. When touched, fragments of these genetically engineered hairs break off and create a “glow” effect around the grem. Happier grems produce more gold fleck hairs, resulting in a golden barrage of glowing dust particles that will draw eyes from miles around. This cosmetic feature is a beautiful addition to any grem, but is not recommended for customers with severe allergies or cleaning fanatics.

This mutation is only present around the neck area of the grem, though it can appear in any neck trait variation. To the left, you can view examples the way gold fleck looks on short, medium, and long fur lengths. The material that gold fleck grems produce can also be collected and sold, and is commonly used for cosmetic products as well as arts and crafts. It can come in many colors, though it is mostly found in the 6 listed.

Scale Plate Mutation

This mutation causes a hardening and “plating” of the skin that toughens slowly over the course of a grem’s early life, not forming or hardening fully until maturity. This mutation is primarily used for protection, reaching density so extreme that it is even able to deflect bullets. The plating is most commonly seen on the tail area, though fully-armored grems have been recorded in the past.

Harlequin Mutation

The mutation has baffled scientists since it was first recorded. A grem’s body will present a false third blood, displaying what appears to be multiple recessive bloods from one foot to the other. This results in the unusual appearance of two differently colored feet, and is thought to be some form of a defense-mechanism, though evidence supporting this theory has been inconclusive. Research has, however, determined that grems with this mutation have a substantially smaller amount of recessive blood than normal, and are weaker as a result.

Begemmed Mutation

Grems with this mutation will experience gem-like growths along their back, sometimes appearing on the face and tail. These growths tend to begin throughout maturity and will grow for the duration of the grem’s life, though growth will slow to a near-stop as they reach their late years.

These crystal-like growths can present in a wide array of different shapes and colors, and in some cases can be problematic if not properly maintained. Some grems will grow gems more quickly and in less fortunate areas (such as near the eyes), and must have their gems trimmed or filed down to prevent injury.

Powers Mutation

Powers are a dangerous game of chance for grems. They are latent at birth and can manifest in a number of ways at any time in their lives. This awakening of powers harnesses the key to becoming as close to the grem’s doppelganger dimension as possible without becoming a cypherus. Each power is different, some being more general or specific depending on the individual and their own strength. They tend to present in specific elements (fire, wind, earth, liquid, gas, and mind) and are controlled primarily through the hands. Grems possessing powers are considered dangerous and are flagged as kill-on-sight once discovered, so powers are generally kept secret.

ive literally be mulling this over for hours now and i dont even know how to answer this xD
I would say they could if they had this power honed, but if they just have a power that produces blood, then most likely not!

Pfff sorry that ya had to think about it for hours ;v;
but damn that sounds kinda spooky tho if they manage to hone such power and different ways to use it

So I'm just wondering if it's still not possible to buy a mutation for an already designed grem?

this wont be available until the ARPG starts up!
Otherwise keep your eye out for our prompts on gremcorps

s O
With the harlequin mutation, does the "third blood type" need to appear as the dominant blood color, but on the foot (like the grem exampled)?  Or can it be a completely different color from either of the blood types entirely?
I love the harlequin mutation and was always curious about that

MrGremble In reply to Pukamaroo [2019-10-15 02:00:34 +0000 UTC]

one foot need to be the recessive colour and the other foot needs to be a "fake colour" , it needs to be an entirely diff colour from the dominant and recessive

I have a question: why does #1025  have a "different colored nails" mutation listed? I assume it's a mistake considering they're an old grem? :0c
Also, #1812  has "oni teeth" as a free mutation, but I don't see that trait in the most recent species reference sheet, so is it actually a free mutation?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MrGremble In reply to Riipurr [2019-01-05 17:20:18 +0000 UTC]

because it followed old rules that no longer exist

and i never added them to the list, you can use it yes

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Riipurr In reply to MrGremble [2019-01-06 00:07:12 +0000 UTC]

Doesn't that mean a lot of old-gen grems have what is now considered that mutation, then? Many of them I've seen have mis-matched coloured nails/paws (either doesn't show the dominant blood).

And cool! :3

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MrGremble In reply to Riipurr [2019-01-06 01:07:30 +0000 UTC]

the nail thing isnt a usual mutation you can switch for, its just an inconsistency ;v;
you're forced to update your grem when you redesign it so it no longer has this issue.

OK, then! Thanks for the clarification~ :3

So, just checking because I'm unclear, these mutations are *not* f2u you must buy a mutation ticket for them?

MrGremble In reply to Honeycomb-and-Birch [2018-11-07 16:41:35 +0000 UTC]

they are off limits yes!

Kali-Naan [2018-11-02 04:17:59 +0000 UTC]

Hello! Im so sorry for bothering you with this, but will there ever be events in the future to bid on/win add ons of mutations? With that being said it also reminds me that there's creatures that live alongside grems, do you think there will ever be events for them as well?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MrGremble In reply to Kali-Naan [2018-11-02 04:20:04 +0000 UTC]

i cant answer that :c i dont want to give false information if i decide not to do so in the future.
Also i dont understand the other question all that much, you can make companions whenever you want, you dont need an event to make one :<

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Kali-Naan In reply to MrGremble [2018-11-02 06:18:51 +0000 UTC]

Oh! Okay, apologies then ): Sorry if that was too prying. Also, my second question was asking if there's events to get companions... because I thought they weren't always available.. thank you for the info (:

MrGremble In reply to Kali-Naan [2018-11-02 06:56:10 +0000 UTC]

only the big events we've done so far for halloween have had closed species companions!
but there are a few that are open species where you can make your own if you wish

Sorry that I keep bothering you! But I wanted to know, I read about cypherus grems, are they synonymous to cypher grems?

cypher and cypherus are the same thing !

Do you know that effect , when really dark/black hair sometimes shines or looks blue-ish ? (it is often used in comics)
Can I use that for my grem too or is that some kind of mutation/special thing?

Hello! I love this species, it's so complex, yet interesting! I wanted to know, because grems with the harlequin mutation are weaker, they wouldn't be able to have a buff body type, correct? Sorry for being a bother ;w;

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MrGremble In reply to PinkPentagram23 [2017-11-06 22:49:55 +0000 UTC]

i mean naturally they would be weaker with weaker bodies, but if you want to make it buff then have fun with it! ovo
